When I found out about this book I was beyond excited. I got it on the day it came out and had read it before the next morning, barely. (stayed up until like 1.) I really love this book. It is one of my favorite books. I really like the new ranger and Will in this book, and I loved how the ending was written, but it made me want more of these books. I would VERY strongly recommend this book and this series. The fiction book "The Royal Ranger" by John Flanagan is the last book of the Ranger's Apprentice's series. John Flanagan writes great books and this series is one of my favorite if not the favorite. This book was about this famous ranger and he is looked upon as the most skilled ranger. His name is Will and he is experiencing the most excruciating part of his life. His wife's death. His wife Alyss was murdered by some thieves who steal children and sell them over to slavery. Will is seeking revenge on them no matter what it takes. Even if it means getting expelled from the ranger corps. All his friends and even his mentor are really worried about him. They are trying to find a way to take his mind of his wife's death. Halt, Will's mentor, has an idea that might just work. Will's very good friends' daughter, Maddie, is very stubborn and disobeys her parents. She needs to be taught self defense, and how to survive in the wild. She is the only hope for Wills' friends that might work to lighten up Wills' mood. But first, Maddie must pass some tests for the first female to enter the corps. It is not easy, but Maddie has a very unique weapon that is easy for a girl to wield, to shoot, and to handle. Can Maddie cheer Will up? Or is he going to stay in his gloomy way forever? Read the book to find out!I think that someone in real life can actually react the same way Will did in the book. If you lose someone you love dearly, you might grieve for a period of time. If you are in a similar situation, someone can help you and support you during that moment of grieving. My favorite character is Will. He seems like a very energetic person around his friends. He is also an extremely skilled ranger. I can't really compare to any character in the book because I don't really fight so I have no experience in camouflage or fighting. I'm really disappointed that the Ranger's Apprentice series is over. This kept me entertained for a very long period of time. It is a good thing John Flanagan wrote another series about a different group of people in the same world of Rangers. I am planning on reading this series.I would recommend this book/series to anyone who is looking for a story taking place in medieval times and a long series. It is a fiction series with 12 books in it.
