The Ranger's Apprentice, Book 10: The Emperor Of Nihon-Ja: Book Ten (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

The Emperor of Nihon-JaJohn FlanaganThis book is part of the Rangers Apprentice Series and is book number 9. This story starts off in the kingdom of Tuscana, where rangers Will and Halt watching an demonstration of Tuscan military techniques. Later on, the story travels to another kingdom called Nihon-Ja, with the knight Horace learning Nihon-Ja's fighting techniques. A couple pages later, it was learned that an revolt in Ito had started against the Emperor. So Horace, and a bunch of others had to escape, and get ready for battle since it is coming. Meanwhile in Toscana, Horace's "girlfriend" was scared that Horace had gone missing and recruited Will and Halt to help find him. They found him and participated in the war/battle. I would recommend this book to all fantasy lovers, middle school and up. Mild violence comes at points in this book so if you don't like violence this book wouldn't be for you. once again, john flannagan has written another amazing booko, this one is by far my favorite, i have probably read it dozens of times, and i can never put te book down.the book takes place in a country we havnt heard of: nihon ja. this place is usualy peaceful, they have a great and kind leader, who has been trying to give the commonfolk more power. one of the generals, however, doesnt like this, he twists the emperors words, and says that he will take all the generals and soliders power, and replace them witht the common folk, horace at the time is visiting the emperor, and he saved the emperors life, forfieghting his diplomatic immunity in the procces, he decides that he will stay and help the emperor fight. when halt, will, alyss, and cassandra(better known as evalyn) rush off to help horace. they get to nihan-ja by using a skandian wolfship, on the way they travvel through a man made channel, and leading to my new favorite quote:Gundar seemed to come to a decision."Well, as my old mam used to say, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's probably a duck.""Very wise," Halt said. "And what exactly do your mother's words of wisdom have to do with this situation?"Gundar shrugged. "It looks like a channel. It's the right place for a channel. If I were digging one, this is where I'd dig a channel. So. . .""So it's probably the channel?" Selethen said.Gundar grinned at him. "Either that or it's a duck.” ― John Flanagan, The Emperor of Nihon-Ja will horace and halt must train a group of woodsmen to become great fighters, so they can defeat an army with thousands of soliders who have been trained all thier life. it seems like an impossible task, but if anyone can do it, its will.
