SONG OF ICE AND FIRE Set George R. R. Martin: Song Of Ice And Fire Series 4-Volume Set (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

Stop on 6/26/2012.I stopped after a certain chapter mid-way through the first book. I'm not gonna say which, as the TV show at the time just happened to play the episode about the chapter. I'm not one to start a book and not finish it. So I know that I'll finish those books. Yet something stops me from entering this loop of 4 (5 by now) books. Am I waiting for the author to finish the whole series first? Am I annoyed with the storyline and/or characters?Or am I simply got bored with the writing and plots as a whole? It did read like a movie/TV script. Admittedly I enjoyed best when reading chapters on certain characters, but it's not enough. Once the first thrill and excitement of starting a new, long, series, entering a vast strange new world on paper, and not to mention the hypes about the TV series...faded, and they did pass away really fast, amazingly, I found the pages not enough to hold me constantly interested. Yes, undoubtedly he's heavily influenced by LOTR and equally ambitious, yet it's so pale in comparison. Maybe I should just forget how everyone raving about how this is THE American LOTR, then maybe, just maybe, I'd like it better. Or, I can wait till he finally finishes the series. If that's even possible with the time he's taking on each new book. Captivating, an amazing, intricate world filled with so many diverse cultures and characters, it's really hard to find just one to fall in love with and even harder to find just one to love to hate. Martin can really pull you into his world but I must admit, I hate the waiting though, as a writer, I do understand the why… especially when your world and character, story and multiple plots and story weaving are so intricately and masterly woven. His work is truly impressive.
