Love Finds A Home (2004) - Plot & Excerpts

Janette Oke does such a wonderful job with this series of books. (It's overall a tie with this series and the Abram's Daughter's series by Beverly Lewis.) If you enjoy Pioneer life and reading about other that struggle in life but have that Faith in God that things will be okay then you will fall in love with Marti and what started out as a marriage of convenience but soon turns into love as Love Comes Softly. For those of you who have watched the movies and enjoy them TRUST me you will FALL IN LOVE with the books! Movies are only very loosely based on the books which at first I couldn't watch 'cause I was so aggravated due to the movies being so off from the books. But I did watch them and they are very nice to watch but you have to not try and remember the books as you watch. The series is wonderfully written and the more you read the more you will want to read so make sure you have the next book handy when you get about half way through the one you are reading

Nice ending to the 'Love Comes Softly' series of eight books. Belinda is now well established as nurse/companion to a wealthy woman in Boston. She manages to visit her home town for a few weeks, and is then finds herself torn, undecided about where her future should lie. Some parts are quite moving, and there's good character development in Belinda, as she discovers that she is no longer the naive young woman who left home. Towards the end of the book she must make an even more major decision, which leads in the end to a somewhat predictable but satisfying conclusion. The Christian theme is emphasised perhaps a little more than in the earlier books, but even so I didn't find it too pushy or preachy. It's very light fiction suitable for adults or teens; recommended to anyone who's read any others in this series.

What do You think about Love Finds A Home (2004)?

Overall I really enjoyed this 8 book series of Love Comes Softly. I mostly liked the books that dealt with Clark and Marty but it was also interesting to delve into the lives of their offspring. Just a note- do not try to watch the Hallmark movies of the same name as you read the series. The movies are so very different from the books- people die in the movies that don't die in the books! I was extremely confused when I tried to read a book and then watch the corresponding movie. I thought I missed something somewhere, but the truth is just that the movies really take liberties and the further along you get in the series the less like the original books the movies are.

Delightful end to a wonderful eight-book series! The characterization of the main characters was greatly developed -- Belinda, Drew, Mrs. Stafford-Smyth, Windsor, and Thomas. The author did a wonderful job with Aunt Virgie's eastern dialect and endearing attitude. The author also depicted beautifully (1) the social stratum between eastern society and their household staff, and (2) the lifestyle differences that Belinda experienced between Boston and her prairie home surroundings. Books 7 and 8 were my favorite of the series.

I listened to this book as an audio book, so my perceptions may differ in that way.Ah, finally finished the series. I love that sense of accomplishment, even with books. This book is Belina's story. She is still in Boston and attending to Mrs. Stafford-Smythe. I found this book to be much more entertaining and interesting than some of the past books. Belinda has a good story to tell and what happens after Mrs. Stafford-Smythe's passing (come on, you knew that was going to happen) keeps you wanting to read more.A very appropriate and adequate ending to the series, especially with the Afterword by the author.
