It's totally official. I love these books. Love them with all my heart.This book, in my own humble opinion, is one of the best in the series! It brought back so many of the characters I have come to love in the series. Even after 10 books, the wit and skill of the writing is still there, and I loved every minute of it!Honestly, I don't know how else to explain this. These books are incredible. They create one of the best stories I've read, and one that I personally enjoy greatly. I HIGHLY recommend this series to everyone, no matter if you love reading or not. They are that amazing. Just do it. You won't regret it. Summary Tease: The kingdom of Nihon-Ja is approaching chaos when the current Emperor, an avid defender of the common, working man, is forcibly overthrown. The heroes of this book must find an ancient stone fortress, said to be able to hold off any attack, that only legends of this structure can provide the hints to finding it. With the dictator who pushed the Emperor out of his palace hot on their trail, the heroes don’t have much time or many options. The lack of sufficient soldiers to man and defend this fortress, if they can it, leaves the heroes only hope for survival in the hands of two young women searching for an equally ancient and unknown race of people said to be born in the mountain side and raised to be fierce warriors covered in red hair and around 6 foot 5 on average. The sparks of rebellion have been set by the oppression of the dictator towards the common man, and the once peaceful and submissive timber workers known as the kikori have grown a backbone and are willing to fight by their rightful Emperor’s side. With all the chaos that is sure to come, no one is guaranteed to get back home. Who might be interested? Why? :Anyone who likes medieval based stories or is interested in Japanese feudalism along with samurai would like this book. This series provides a good point of view that can be confusing for some if you don’t pay attention. This point of view is more of something like an omniscient narrator (meaning you are made aware of all the characters thoughts).Overall Satisfaction: 5 Out of 5 This is because I feel that the author keeps the flow of the story at a good pace. There are points in the book where the main protagonists are split up into two or more groups and the author alternates every chapter to progress each one a little further every time. It annoys me when an author sets aside a main character for half the book before even mentioning them again other than to tell you that they are alive.
