Theodosia And The Last Pharaoh (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I hope that there are more stories with Theodosia and Egyptian lore. This was a a great story, full of action and adventure in the land of Egypt. I was also surprised with the high vocabulary used throughout the book. I kept looking up words and only a couple of them were undefinable since they were Egyptian in origin. I would definitely recommend this book to an advanced reader in middle school, if they like Egyptian adventure and young, peculiar female protagonists. Theodosia's latest adventure has her returning to her family's former dig site in Egypt to fulfill her deathbed promise (well, okay, almost deathbed, but it still counts even if they don't die, right?) to return a couple of very magical ancient artifacts to the group that protect their potentially dangerous secrets. Should be straightforward enough, & then Theodosia will get to help her mother do some actual archaeology! If only that were true. If only that were ever true for Theodosia. Her ability to see the curses that have been put on some ancient Egyptian artifacts make just about everything end up being anything but straightforward, & her big trip will be no different - in spite of a new friend, several members of the Keepers organization being behind her, & her determination to stick to the plan & be done quickly.Of course, Theodosia has another mission on this trip, one that's a bit more personal: knowing that she was actually born at an ancient temple in this country, she's ready to find some answers about what her origins may have to do with her unique abilities. She may just find out more than she's bargaining for. Another fun, lively, & fast-paced adventure with a smart, strong girl protagonist & a wealth of Egyptian mythology, this would be a good recommendation for kids who liked any of Rick Riordan's series, especially the girls.

What do You think about Theodosia And The Last Pharaoh (2011)?

I didn't like this one as much as the others. The ending did not seem to stand on its own. >:(
