The Fate Of Katherine Carr (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

I'm still reading this, but I wanted to say that I am annoyed with the book and only on the 8th chapter. The book's narrator talks at great length on preciseness of writing and attention to details, yet chronology in the book is already skewed. While reading the papers, looking up information of Miss Carr, we have her at 12 in 1973, then a year later, then at 17. This would be 1978, although is not mentioned. Then he says 6 years later, ok, fine, that would be 1984, but is again, not mentioned. He says the next paper came out in 1982 and something happened which had to have been after the other one in 1984. Why even mention dates, ages, years, if they are not going to line up? It just annoys me. I will finish the book, but it is harder to get into when things like that happen. This is the second book I have read by Thomas H.Cook, having recently read 'Red Leaves' which I really enjoyed and so sought out another of his novels. 'The Fate Of Katherine Carr' however was a bit of a different matter for me. Cook's writing still keeps you well and truly hooked yet at the same time I felt it was a bit overwritten. There were too many sentences starting with "I remembered blah blah blah" or "I recalled blah blah", that sort of thing, in fact there were just too many "I" "I" "I"'s!!! The storyline was unusual, started off really well but then I felt like I was getting a bit lost with the plot and what was going on, before it all seemed to come together at the end, and despite the thought that I was going to be really disappointed by the ending, I wasn't. 3 stars.
