Stíny (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I must admit that when I initially started reading the series, I found it a little vapid. There was something about the cutesy attitude of 'doing the work of a daemon in three inch stilettos' combined with the drama that wasn't really that appealing to me, but I did get into it. By the end of the book I felt like, I could probably stop there but wouldn't be opposed to reading more in the future. I knew that if Emily May had good things to say about the series that I would give it the benefit of the doubt. When I found the audiobook of the second book, I got hooked. I have listened pretty much non stop until this book. Even though I wouldn't classify it as a great book, or that it's hugely special in anyway but there's something enjoyable about it. It's fun getting involved with the stories and characters without being too over taxing on your heart strings. It's also one of the few series that I haven't gotten bored with finishing one after the other. This book in particular is different from the others. Although the mystery and twist wasn't as thrilling, there are many, almost short story type segments mixed with flashbacks and other characters daily lives that I found just as engaging. I started this series with really high hopes - a succubus with a heart of gold with witty repartee? Definitely my cup of tea. And then the angst hit. And it just. doesn't. stop. She loves Seth. She's heartbroken. She doesn't want to love him. They have an affair. He proposes to his girlfriend (what?) She's a bridesmaid. I just can't deal with the emotional rollercoaster in this book - even more because she keeps going back. And then back again. This was a DNF for me. I couldn't get past chapter 2 without wanting to smack her upside the head. I will not be reading the last in the series for this reason - HEA or not.

What do You think about Stíny (2013)?

I hadn't read the first 4 Georgina Kincaid books before reading this one, I didn't even realise there where 4 previous books. However, after reading this one I am disappointed and uninspired to read the other books of the series. The story starts out really well, but the time she spends in the dream state quickly becomes to dull, there are something's left unexplained, presumably for another book, and if I'm being totally honest, I wanted her to end up with Roman! Overall, it as well written and had and interesting storyline but I don't think I'll actively be seeking out the other books.

Agh....Simone pisses me off! Why wouldn't she just tell Seth about her in the first place? How could Georgina agree to help plan and then agree to be in the wedding...no way!Love little Kayla :)oh my dreams...yikesOkay...I do feel bad for Maddie in this book....she was just an innocent bystander in all this...although what kind of marriage would it be if your husband and his soul are in love with another woman."you are my world Letha"

Hmmm.... definitely my least favourite so far. Still interested enough to finish the series though.

Okay. I've given up on any other guy. It's Seth. Fine. Whatever
