Something Borrowed, Something Bleu (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I like this series. I love the crafting info and cooking info. They garden, have their own chickens, go to the farmer's market and in this book she is taking cheese making class and I am at a part where she is learning about making Kefir, the dairy she goes to is organic/pastured, etc Refreshing to see a book that values these skills and way of procuring food, etc.I loved that the author talks about raw milk, real food, etc. This book was interesting in plot although a bit predictable, because she was investigating her own brothers suicide 18 years ago. I still like this series, nice light reading with fun info. I found myself enjoying this book, as I had the others, but I almost feel that I enjoy them in spite of myself. The mystery in this book I felt was pretty obvious from the beginning, and really what was waiting to unravel were just the more minute details. And, I am starting to find Sophie Mae to be a bit annoying. If she ever ends up getting murdered herself, I'd have to say, she sort of had it coming. Yet, despite all that, I can't stop turning pages or taking these books out of the library. The bones of the series are good...Sophie Mae just need to work on her style a bit. She comes across as both ditzy and impertinent, and while the character is mostly likable, I often find myself calling her an idiot under my breath quite a lot. Each book sees her in a potentially deadly bind, and that just gets to be old after a while. She has got to figure out how to solve these crimes without nearly getting herself killed.
