Party Summer (1991) - Plot & Excerpts

I finished this book last night and it was a great book from R.L. Stine. It was very exciting and compelling with twists and turns coming in during the second half that made it almost impossible to guess what would happen next. Just like the last book I read, Danger At The Fair, the book got so thrilling towards the end I wanted to keep on reading. It was really good! The basic premise is about four teenagers who go to an island to work at a hotel. But when they arrive, they find that the hotel is abandoned and they are all alone with the owner, Simon Fear, and the creepy cook, Martin. While this premise sounds a bit cliche, it takes some turns along the way that makes it its own. Though I must admit that, after the final twist, the book (view spoiler)[ does sort of rip of "A Most Dangerous Game" (view spoiler)[. But nevertheless, this is a very thrilling book and one of Fear Street's best. Highly recommend it.Pros: The compelling, deep characters, the great twists and turns, the compelling villian, and the thrilling ending.Cons: Minor: On the back of the book, it claims that the walls and faucets start dripping blood. But that never happens in the actual book. But no big deal; MUCH scarier stuff happens in this book. (hide spoiler)]

What do You think about Party Summer (1991)?

Suspenseful and entertaining but the plot's average and nothing new. Also the first part is really bland as nothing much happened. The characters are mostly bland but not too annoying so it's fine. The twists are also good as well!Overall, this could appeal for those into cheesy horror as it does have share of entertainment but they should know that this book's really tame without gore or sex so it can appeal to both adults and kids who are at least ten years old. The book gets its rated because of that but suffer from the boring first part and ordinary plot.

Wow. The first thing I have to say is 'WHAT THE F***?'!! This book had one of the strangest endings I have read in a Fear Street novel. The first half of the book was a bit spooky, but I wasn't scared. And then I got to the second half and I was like 'holy crap!!'. I'll admit, it got freakier towards the end and I got a bit creeped out. I must give R.L. Stine props once more. I wasn't expecting the end at all! (view spoiler)[You find out that Simon's brother Edward is some crazy freak that hunts people and wants to make Cari and her friends his next trophies. (hide spoiler)]
