Wait Till Helen Comes (1987) - Plot & Excerpts

Oh some days don't you wish were twelve again? Well, probably you don't, at least if you were like me. I was awkward and chubby and had all sorts of acne. Puberty is a biotch! BUT...I remember my love for little gems such as Wait Till Helen Comes. Don't you love ghost stories? I love a ghost story. I love getting a little thrill from being afraid of what may or may not be lurking around the corner or in the dark. Not because I believe in ghosts, mind you. I sort of really scoff at the idea. Most of the time. But a little part of me still believes in them when I'm all by myself in the house, and I'm reading a tale like this. Maybe, just maybe, a little ghostie will reveal itself to me at times like that. And it makes me shutter just a bit. Even if the story is totally juvenile and full of logical holes and such. Maybe it's just fun to believe it for a minute, if only for the thrill. And that is probably why today I wish I was twelve again. This story would have scared the pants off me then. But today, at my age, well, it gave me a chill here and there. I did hide the cover when I put it next to my bed. I mean, who wants to look at a ghost of a dead little girl who is allegedly haunting other little girls whilst she drifts off to sleep? Not this girl! It's creepy! The story goes something like this. Molly and Michael have a new little step-sister, Heather. And Heather, a troubled child who is hiding a dark secret of her own, makes friends with a ghost. Heather goes so far as to threaten her new step-siblings with vengeance wrought by none other than her new found pal and specter, Helen. Michael, a child with a penchant for science, doesn't believe. But Molly is convinced that Heather is possessed by something dark and harmful. She wants to protect Heather, but will she be able to as long as Heather keeps tormenting the family and causing trouble for her new siblings? It's a fun little story, especially for the younger set. Not sure I'll pick up another juvenile ghost tale, at least for the time being. But it was fun, for a moment, to revisit my twelve-year-old self and feel a little bit spooked out by the possibility of a haunting.

***SPOILER ALERT***Have you ever seen little kids speaking to themselves or talking to somthing it might be a GHOST then you should read this book it is scary lol. the genre of this book is suspance.I think this book is great it has a lot of detail of the setting and plot.It also shows you alot of the charactors back stories. The setting of this book is in achurch that a family bought tthe people who used to live by the house has died in a fire.Heather is a little girl who causes trouble to her brother michal and sister molly.Heathers mom died in a fire wich she caused but has not told her father but somthing has happend her molly starts overhearing heather conversation with a ghost she stars getting worried.I wish that heather could at least be a little less annoying.I was suprised when molly saw helen for the first time when helen was with heather and was about to go in the pond. This book really caught my attention because it is suspenceful and it is also a scary type of book. Then molly tried to save heather from drowning.so she throws the locket that helen gave heather to the pond after that they find helens parents bodies. Heather mother forgives hether on the book Heather receive the locket from helen wich was foun on the statue of helens family grave.Overalli give this book five ★★★★★ because it has what i wanted in a scary book which is suspence mystery and ghosts.I reccomend this book to people who are looking for scary and suspenceful books. So if you want to read this then YOU SHOULD SINCE IT HAS GHOSTS IN IT. LOL K BYEE

What do You think about Wait Till Helen Comes (1987)?

It was a lot longer ago than that for me! LOL But I read it twice. There were years in between, and the second time I read it I thought, "There's no way this is as scary as I remember it being." I was wrong. It still creeped me out. I don't even know if I'd dare to read it now. LOL

I loved this book! It was really creepy! I think all of you should read it! ......Michaeal & Molly have to move to an old church (now a house) with their mom and new stepfather. They are not happy at ALL & will miss all of their friends! Unfourtunatly Molly has to share a room with her new step sister, Heather! She is really rude & creepy. One day Heather wanders off to the graveyard behind the house. She soon creepily comes attached to this one grave in particular. Then one day Heather pushes Molly down a well......JK! Lol, but you do need to read this book to find out the rest.....& NO! No one falls or gets pushed down a well! ~♥PEACE♥~♥~MeReDiTh~♥

Have you read any books by Betty Ren Wright? Like Hahn, she has written a good number of ghost books. I thought The Dollhouse Murders and Out of the Dark were scarier than most adult horror novels I've read.
