The New Girl (2006) - Plot & Excerpts

This is the first book in the long running Fear Street series. It starts with a chapter about how easy it was to kill a person...how this person was always the most popular and all that... but not anymore. It is about a teenager named Corey Brooks. He is on the gymnastics team and one day while doing some tricks in the cafeteria he sees the new girl... her pale skin and blond hair. He falls in love. He asks his friend Lisa Blume ( Lisa and Corey have lived across the street from each other for a long time and have been friends through it all) if she knows the new girl. They are in a class together and Cory finds out her name is Anna Corwin. Lisa is not impressed with his questions because she secretly likes him but he never seems to notice. Corey thinks about Anna so much that he messes up in gymnastics a bunch of times. One time during a meet he sees her in the audience and totally wipes out. He gets a hold of her phone number and when he calls a man answers and says that Anna is dead and to stop calling. Corey goes to her house on Fear Street and runs into a neighbor who is out at night walking his dog. He runs into this neighbor a few more times throughout the book and the dog actually knocks him over once. One time he knocks on Anna's door and a man answers ( later it is found out that this man is Anna's brother Brad ) the man tells Corey that Anna is dead and to never come back. Corey tries to ask Anna about all of this but she kisses him and distracts him. Later Lisa brings Corey to the library and they see an article of Anna Corwin falling down a flight of stairs and dieing. Cory gets a call from Anna one night telling him to come to get her he does and when he asks her again she gets all nervous and starts kissing him again, then she jumps out of the car. One day Lisa asks Corey to the dance and Anna overhears. Shortly after Lisa finds a dead cat in her locker. Cory brushes it off as some sort of prank. At the dance Lisa and Corey get into a fight kind of and Lisa leaves. Soon you hear a scream and Lisa has been pushed down some stairs. They search the school and find out it was Brad... he flees and now Corey knows the guy is dangerous. He confronts Anna again and she explains that Brad had a girlfriend who died then he started calling Anna's sister Willa by that girls name and saying that Willa was dead. Then one day Willa died... Anna and her mom thought that Brad pushed her down the steps and became afraid of him. And now he says that Anna is dead and she is afraid he is going to do the deed. Suddenly Brad shows up outside peering in through the cafe window, Anna panics and leaves. Corey makes his way to her house and him and Brad have a fight, he manages to knock Brad out and Anna starts taking him upstairs. She says they should kill Brad with a letter opener she grabs of a hallway table. He refuses and she attacks him. Brad comes and they finally get her down. He explains that Anna is actually Willa. Willa was always jealous of Anna and Brad and his mom suspected that Willa killed Anna. Brad says once he knew that Willa was calling herself Anna and Corey was getting close and Brad did not want Corey to get hurt. he says that at the dance he thought the girl running was Willa and he just meant to grab her. After she fell he seen it was not her and he panicked. So it is a twisted story really and at then end Lisa agrees to pick a girl for Corey.... we all know who she has in mind. A good read, well written for sure, and a great start to the series.

For what i read of the the book.. I loved it! It gave me a great picture in my head of what was going on and it was a great book for my personal interests in ghosts. Yes, i would recommend it because it is a book that if you sat down and read it you wouldn't be able to put it down, if you really got into it. I would definitely recommend this to people who are int rested in ghosts or suspenseful books. Yes i would've liked to keep reading to finish it bur i just couldn't read and stay focused on the book. In this book it gave me a creepy feeling and a anxious feeling to know what was going to happen next. The main characters were A girl named Amy and a boy. The boy was on the gymnastics team and the Amy was a new girl at the school. The boy saw her and it was like love at first sight. Amy on the other hand, was at school and nobody besides the boy knew who she was. The story took place at a High school and on a road called Fear Street. The conflict in this story was that there was a girl who was new and the boy knew who she was and nobody else had ever heard of her. No the conflict was never solved because she was a ghost. The turning part of the story was when the boy called her house and someone answered and he asked if the girl was there and there was no one by that name. I think this is the turning point because now you have the reader wondering what is really going on .

What do You think about The New Girl (2006)?

this book is about Cory falling in love with the new girl. the new girl name is Anna. Cory thinks that the is the most prettiest girl ever. Cory didn't know how to ask her out, so he call her home. by the way Anna lives in fear street. fear street is very creepy at night. Some people consider it as a haunted street. anyways, Cory calls Anna, but this strange man answer and said Anna has died and does not exist anymore. cory didn't know, what was he saying. so, lisa his best friend says that her cousins friends was in the old school of anna and she has a report that Anna was died. cory couldn't take it anymore. his grades are suffering and he has no sleep at all, because he was thinking of anna. Cory knew something was wrong with the Corwins. he went to Anna home and her screaming. he know that Anna is in trouble because she has a dangerous brother name brad. Brad was right. Anna was died. this Anna is pretending. her real name is Willa. Anna was smart, pretty, and Willa was not. this is a really good book.

FEAR STREET! Ah, the books that shaped me in middle school. I loved the Goosebumps books when I was elementary school so much that I had to segue into the Fear Street books. I can't believe this book was written in the 80s. 1989, to be exact. This book came out the year I was born. IT'S 25 YEARS OLD. Insanity. And it still holds up today. Fear Street is a series by Stine that centers around a street in the town of Shadyside called Fear Street. The street is known for unexplained mysteries, murders, and other spooky things. The New Girl is the first book in the fun and freaky thrillers. The New Girl follows Cory Brooks as he falls in love with this girl, Anna Corwin. Anna is stunning, with eyes as blue as the ocean and golden blonde hair. But she is also very pale. As pale as a ghost, some might say. Actually, she is one! Well, she would be one. See, Anna is actually dead. In a fit of jealous rage, her sister, Willa, pushed her down the basement stairs. It instantly killed her, of course, and everyone is naturally crushed by the fact that shes dead. Well, everyone except Willa. In a traditional Stine plot twist, we find out at the end of the book that Willa is actually pretending to be Anna (you know, mannerisms, clothes, calling herself Anna...) and is completely cray cray. I mean, of course she would be crazy, I mean SHE PUSHED HER SISTER DOWN THE STAIRS. No sane person would do that I mean, get real. The Fear Street books are great because they are more sinister than the Goosebumps books. More raw, if you ask me. I'm pretty sure you'd never find a jealous sister murdering her sister by pushing her down the stairs to get everything she ever wanted in Monster Blood 2, would you? Yeah, didn't think so.

This book was about a boy named Cory, who lives in Shadyside and goes to Shadyside High. He sees a pretty girl, who's as pale as a ghost, named Anna. He is soon attracted to her and wants her. As soon as he meets her, Anna disappears. The only thing Cory knows about Anna is that she lives on Fear Street, a street that's spooky and a little haunted. After her disapperance, Cory channges because he could not stop thinking about her, losing a lot of sleep, and leaving his friends to look for her. He becomes determined to find her and find out what happened to her and her secret. I thought that this book was overall good because it kept me wanting to find out what is happening to Anna. I enjoyed reading it and I think that these Fear Street books are interesting because they keep readers on the edge and I felt that it was one of those page-turners. I would recommend this book or series to anyone who likes R. L. Stine or likes to read mystery books.
