Rush Revere And The First Patriots: Time-Travel Adventures With Exceptional Americans (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Rush Revere and the First Patriots, by Rush Limbaugh, is an awesome way to teach students about history! I'm not a big fan of history at all but this was an interesting book to read.I loved the illustrations, they looked like real heads on cartoon looking bodies. It's a funny little twist thrown in the book. The book is about a substitute teacher, and his horse, that who takes a few students back in time to 1765 and 1774 to see what happens during these times. Rush's horse, Liberty, has the ability to open portals to the past so Rush and the students can go and witness different things that we have learned about over the years. He takes along four students and one of the things they get to see is Carpenter's Hall where the first Continental debates serving trade ties with Great Britain. They got to see a number of other things, but you'll have to read to find out! Limbaugh does a wonderful job have telling you what's happening but also showing you. A lot of the illustrations are one's we see in our history books or in museums, just a smidge smaller for this book. It makes the book more interesting because I believe the kids that read it feel older because they are reading something they learn more in depth later but they get to see what these men really looked like in those times. For the most part, besides not liking history, my attention was kept through most of this book. All the events lead up to the American Revolution, and we all know how that ended. This is a good book to have for 3rd-8th graders. It's a fun way to learn history while still getting the information you need from it. It has a target audience of around eleven, and I knew this when I started the book. I can see where young people might enjoy the format and even learn something. It is a fresh way to teach our nations past history. The time travel idea places the reader in a more face to face relationship with some of the true formers of our nation. Men of courage, conviction, character, and steadfastness. My rating of this tomb is based more on how it entertained me than on the value received from a historical work.

What do You think about Rush Revere And The First Patriots: Time-Travel Adventures With Exceptional Americans (2014)?

Just a fun read. Author took "liberties" to describe personalities of founding fathers.
