Questione Di Tempo. Vol. 1 (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Tough one to rate. Compared to other two star ratings I've given recently, this book was better. I had still issues with it, though. Lots of issues.First and foremost, Jory is too perfect. Everyone loves him. Guys meet him and want to jump his bones. He sleeps with them once and they're suddenly obsessed with him. Every woman is his best friend within seconds. Then he treats ex's like dirt, and yet they still want him. Every character was impossibly gorgeous with men and women just falling down all around them with insta-lust/love. I honestly felt a bit sick about all the women fawning over Dane. Dane himself I did enjoy. His character was the most interesting (the forgetting of the ex's name was actually a bit fun).It felt as if the author could only equate 'goodness' with 'beauty'. All the good folks were devastatingly beautiful (which everyone else made a big deal about every other page) and the bad guys were left ambiguous.Jory's apparent only flaw was his TSTL tendencies. When told he has killers after him, he doesn't care on such a monumental level it was ridiculous. Which brings me to the next issue...The police procedural was non-existent. When a witness to a murder is abducted, chased across town and shot at, shouldn't he be brought in to give a statement? In the beginning, when Sam conveniently showed up wherever Jory was, was he stalking him/guarding him/coincidentally there three or four times in a row? No one ever bothered to ask or explain.Dialogue in places was confusing. I found I had to go back and forth to make sure of who was talking at any given time.Having said all that... I just downloaded the next volume. I'm really not sure why. After finishing this I was suffering a severe sugar poisoning. The book is expertly written, it's a joy to read as it's flows without flaws and sweeps you into the story. It's just that the story itself wasn't really for me. It's one of the most syrupy books I have ever read and after reading this I can finally understand when people say that Mary Calmes tends to re-write Sam and Jory. It really could have been a contemporary version of Change of Heart. But where I could believe the insta-love between the MCs' and the way everyone and their pet spider wanted to touch Jin/Jory, I couldn't do it in here without the paranormal element to lend it some credibility. The fact that the other MC is apparently straight in the beginning and then has no problems falling in love with a man doesn't do it any favors either. The way everybody loved Jory was way over the top and on top of that there was Dane... Just no, way too many irresistible men. Sam on the other hand was total alpha male with all the bullshit that goes with it. Most of the time I felt that Sam and Jory were standing side by side facing the opposite directions and both of them were talking to each other at the same time. Lots of words but zero understanding or even listening to one another. It was at times very exhausting read as they both yelled at each other and neither bothered to listen what the other one said. Not the type of relationship I like to read about. But even after all this bitching I do have to say that it was easy read and I even liked it somewhat. If you are in the market for sugary sweet romance then you really should pick it up, it will lighten your day for sure.
