"Plant a Kiss" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal is a charming story of a little girl who plants a kiss in he ground, only to find that it grows into so much more and she shares it with everyone she meets. The storyline was a tad reminiscent of Pollyanna, but nonetheless captivating. I immensely enjoyed the illustrations. Each opening is mostly made up of white space, and then a featured little image of little miss, or little miss and her friends. The images begin in mostly grey/brown shades with a hint of yellow and pink, but as the kiss grows, the images take up more space on the page, and the pink and yellow that represent the kiss grows and actually sparkles and stands out on the page. overall, it is a wonderful little book that encourages children to enjoy sharing and spreading the love, a good message, I think, for everyone. Little Miss plants a kiss and waters and nurtures it. The sun shines and and rain falls and patience wanes. But in the end, something wonderful happens!What a great read for children. Patience is a tough concept for children to understand. Little Miss is truly rewarded for her patience though it was difficult to wait. And, best of all, she wants to share the kiss when everyone is telling her to keep it.The illustrations are simple and perfect. The font used for the text has a kid-friendly look. Read it again and again!
