La Leçon De Danse (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Elephants cannot dance was an easy and quick read, but totally adorable. The elephant thought he did not know how to dance, but in reality he was creating his own dance that people actually wanted to learn. It would be a great book to read to children to show them to be themselves, and not to be scared to try things even if they don't think they could do it. Because it could actually be somthing that they enjoy and are great at! Mommy's review from 10/12/11 - I'm not a Willems fan. As of today I have yet to find a book I think it "worth" more than two or three stars. This is a very simple take on it but it seems to me Willems' books are like any other - unfinished - product. If I were a car maker and sold you a car missing the backseat for instance. A double toaster without those little grid things that get red hot. Get the picture? This is purely my likes and dislikes of course but I like words. I like to read a story with words inside. If I wanted to see a drawing or some such I'd go to an art museum. It seems like Willem just slides through writing as little as humanly possible. While I'm being honest I should also mention the illustrations aren't anything to shout from the rooftops about. To be sure the book has nice illustrations. Also to be sure they're just about so-so IMO.Julia liked it more than I did and the only thing I would say this could be good for is as a teaching tool with beginning readers. That's basically what this is - a glorified level reader for a child learning.I doubt we'll read any more of Willems' books although I wouldn't be against trying one if I happen to see it in front of me somewhere. As to actively seeking it out - no can do.

What do You think about La Leçon De Danse (2010)?

Simple book with a good message. Macayla enjoyed acting out the dance moves, "spin" "jump" etc.
