La Cosa Mas Dulce (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

My first book by Ms Laura Lee Guhrke and conclusion- shes amazing!! And a big romantic sweetheart! I simply love, loved, LOVED the book! If there was 6 or 5.5 stars, I would have given it that. I'm glad Lawrence turned out to be a nice and sweet Cupid. He could easily have become a sore loser turned destroyer because he couldn't stand his brother winning it all. Whew! But perhaps I would have tried to spare poor Philip from such a public declaration. I felt it was recognizing l.o.v.e and being honest and true to his feelings that Maria wanted but not necessarily making it a big scene. That would have been painful for reserved Philip that Maria wouldn't have wanted him to go through if she loves him so dearly. Like someone mentioned, the book had touches of Jane Austen. Maybe that's why I loved it so much, I love Darcy too! "Secret Desires of a Gentleman" is the first Laura Lee Guhrke novel I've read. I was looking for new historical romance authors and I'm glad I stumbled across Laura! What would we do without goodreads, right? Anyways, this novel was fantastic. I have a thing for couples who start out with a bit of hostility or weariness. Is that weird? I find when they start to grow or admit their feelings towards each other, it's like a flower blossoming. It was nice enough at first, but when it blossoms, it's beautiful. The characters were excellent. Especially, Phillip- The Marquess of Kayne. Yes, he was a snob most of the novel, but I knew it was just because that's all he knew. He was forced to become Marquess at an early age and had to shoulder all the responsibility. Sure, I wanted to set him straight a few times with his "manners", but it all made him what he was. Towards the end of the novel he was the man on many dreams. Declaring love and tossing away the looks of his "ungentlemanly behaviors". He was fantastic. I also loved Maria. She was smart, independent, beautiful and knew how to have fun. She has a way with her that makes men, especially the Hawthorne brothers want to be near her. Lawrence was a fun character as well. He didn't play as big a role as I thought he would, but I didn't mind. He played the role he was meant to and it fit perfect. This novel was a excellent way to spend a few hours. I was engrossed in the novel so much that I didn't get to sleep until three thirty am. I want more, so I think go I'll pick some up!

If you think you'd like Sabrina in the Victorian Era, you'll like this book. It was truly superior!
