The daughter of a police captain, Jonah MacMasters, has been murdered and he specifically requests that Eve oversee the case. She has to juggle this heart-breaking investigation with the preparations for the wedding of Louise and Charles, but she does it with her usual style.Rourke and even Jamie Lingstrom figure heavily in this story which has a large e-component. It quickly becomes apparent that the murder was intended as revenge against the captain, but it takes Eve and her team a bit of time to decipher what happened originally and who is seeking revenge. As always the team brings down the bad guy - but not before another death. #29 in the Eve Dallas (in Death) series. Author Robb continues to be innovative in her long running crime series and the sub-plots evolving from her circle of family, colleagues and friends are really a lot of fun. The main plot involves the killer of a cop's daughter who has a most obscure motive. Tech genius Jamie Lingstrom, who is being subsidized at Columbia University by Roarke, provides some critical assistance during the investigation - and who knew that Roarke addressed the President of Columbia as Peach. Also, the social scene averse Dallas is hosting the wedding of friends Louise and Charles.Great blend of the dark crime with the lighter personal interactions.Eve Dallas series - For NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas, there is no such thing as a holiday from work.
