Jumpstart the World starts off interesting and captivated me till the very end. This book is about a 15 year old girl named Elle having to move to her own apartment. She quickly falls in love with her much older neighbor,Frank. She later on finds out that he is part of the LGBT community and Elle learns that in order to keep the strong friendship she has with Frank she must learn how to accept him. This book is inspirational because it talks about social injustice and shows how Frank has to deal with it. I also love it's theme about love, friendship, and trust. The author is able to keep your attention because there is so much going on in the book but not to the point that it becomes confusing. I would definitely recommend this book. One of a kind so far as I've found. Jumpstart The World touches on everything from love to loss to inner battles and belief and conflict. It encompasses some very sensitive areas in such a way as to be honest, yet kind, and uses characters with depth and true personality. This short novel grabbed me right from the start, as I have a mother very similar the the protagonists. A quick read, but well worth it.
