Family Man (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I can totally relate to the two major plot points of this novel. First, I come from a huge Catholic family (though Spanish/Australian, and not Italian). So I can understand how someone could make it into his forties without consciously realizing he's gay.Second, I have had personal interaction with alcoholics and addicts. So I can understand the frustration, rage, and despair that comes from loving someone who uses their "disease" as an excuse to cut a wide swath of destruction wherever they go, and understand just wanting it to be done. Over.So the story itself was great...just the right amount of drama, but low angst. Sexy times. Even some humor. What took away from the whole, for me, was the narrative mode changes each chapter. Vinnie's chapters were third person narrative, and Trey's were first person. Argh! Drove me nuts!Other than that, it was a really enjoyable story. The Fierro family! ♡ I just wanted to hug Trey and never let go. To be young and gone through so much. To not have hope and be so used to it. To think of those things, the guilt, the exhaustion, man. That was hard. I'm so glad for Vinnie! So glad. Vinnie the one unsure became the rock and it was lovely to see him grow and be strong and to stand up for who he was. I have always enjoyed the stories of these two authors and I know I will definitely read more! :)

Loved it! Such an awesome, sweet book. Enough angst to make it just right. Highly recommend.
