Doomwyte (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Some differences in this Redwall book: A Log a Log shrew who is disliked and a hare (not from Salamandstrom) who doesn't say "wot" at the end of every sentence. Still has the appetite though. Didn't disappoint overall despite these quirks. Once again, fantastic riddles, poems, songs, that led to the discovery of treasure that dates back to the origin of Redwall and the famous Gonff the mouse thief. Also straying from typical Jacques, the antagonist was not amazingly fearful, with many doubts and faults and challenges from others. Therefore, it was not a classic Redwall battle scene but rather a cowardly leader trying to escape. Great secondary characters kept in the shadows for part of the story (Zaran the black otter). Great characters, excellent history, good plot. Not as much sadness as I'd expected over the loss of four moles. Not as much ineptitude in fighting as I'd expected from Redwallers. Not as much dismay amongst the Abbey creatures at the scenes of violence and bad language (not as sheltered in the Abbey in this generation I guess). Practice Review;Doomwyte was an awesome book. It had a lot of action and adventure. The author Brian Jacques made me feel like I was the charactors in the book. The people of Redwall found one eye of Doomwyte then read the legend of the eyes of doomwyte. Then they wanted to find the rest of the eyes of doomewyte. Then the ansestors of Doomwyte wanted to take back what a Redwaller stole from them. The eyes of Doomwyte. The needed help from someone. So they went and asked the adder Baliss. So they got more birds and other villians to help them take them back.

Another example of how obsessive those idiot ravens and snakes are about shiny stuff.

Follows the general Redwall formula, but I enjoyed it anyways.
