Yule Be Mine (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

I was searching for the Lori Foster book that had the short story about a woman seeking a revenge "night" with her ex's best friend...and yup, this book is a compilation of a bunch of great Lori Foster shorts. I also loved the story about the cop who didn't like Christmas until he got some convincing.I love Christmas, I love reading and I love anthologies...so it goes without saying that I loved this book. I noticed that I hadn't put of a review and that was likely an oversight when I was going through my stack of books on the bookshelf and just adding and adding and adding one weekend. But without a doubt, this one is in my trailer's bookshelf for "perfect" re-reads and "best" lenders (when others borrow or stay over in our trailer and are looking for a great read)! That, Lori, is a street gang activity! enjoy~ This book is a collection of holiday stories all written by Lori Foster. If you're looking for 4 short stories, that are witty and romantic then you've found the right book. These type of books, I find, are excellent choices during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season as it's easier to start and finish a story when they're mini. Now if you're searching for an in-depth romantic holiday story, then this book is not for you. As I said, it contains 4 short stories, which make them quick, light, easy to read, and not really a lot of detail to the background, character history, or even specifics on location. However, Lori Foster still does a stellar job of presenting her characters and their stories. So much so, that even though she has less than 100 pages per story, I found myself enjoying them all. The first selection is about 2 friends, who are interested in being more than friends, but can't because one of them is dating somebody. The fun begins once Booker is finally single. I actually found myself laughing, quietly but laughing, in 2 places during this story. The second selection, I unfortunately found just a little too sappy and gushingly unbelievable for my taste. The story tries to "parallel" the Grinch, and in doing so just comes across as cheesy. I was thanful this was the shortest story in the book. The third story was a good one. I was once agained reminded of Foster's delectable ability to write phenomenal bedroom scenes. Here is where the paranormal aspect came into play as Marci is a pet psychic. Usually these types of characters can be difficult to write realistically with them coming across as believable and intruguing. However, Foster pulled it off with panache. The last story, I thought I wasn't going to like. Initially, I thought that Beth was going to be one of those heroines who annoys me with her constant questioning of her self, her self-doubt skyrocketed through the story, and her idiotic self-loathing. However, Foster pulled it around when she didn't leave Beth in this dilemma for very long, by providing Beth with wonderful female family members who were able to pull her head out of her ...butt. Overall, I guess it's obvious, that I liked the book (with 1 exception). I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a quick holiday read that's light, entertaining, and easy to fit into the chaos of the holidays.

What do You think about Yule Be Mine (2009)?

Typical Lori Foster short story fare. Perfect to read just before tackling some heavier reading.
