Wampiry Z Morganville Ksiega 1: Przeklęty Dom, Bal Umarłych Dziewczyn (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

3.5 Stars.Characters: I did like that Claire seemed like a 16 year old - she could be mature, but she could also be really immature. I did not like how Twilight-y the relationships were - there was a lot of "I'm the guy and I need to protect you" and "my decisions are the right decisions, do what I say". There were also some weird attitudes towards sex (the reaction or lack thereof to the Ian situation was particularly bothersome). I really didn't like Shane much at all - I definitely liked him better at first and started liking him less and less as the book went on. His focus on Claire being 16/17 and what was okay vs. what wasn't okay seemed to be based on really arbitrary decisions. My favorite character was Richard, and he was a minor character - I did like Amelie a lot too though. Plot: Overall the plots were fine. I think the plot in book 1 was a bit stronger than the plot in book 2. I did feel like there were a lot of smaller plot points that weren't really resolved, and that bothered me a lot because it made everything seem like it fell into place too easily. I wish the mythology had been more developed too - I felt like a lot of the background given was kind of weak. I especially didn't like that both books end on cliffhangers - that always makes me feel like the author doesn't really believe in the book and feels the (s)he needs to force you to continue the series by leaving a big issue unresolved.Overall: I definitely liked book 1 better than book 2, although book 2's cliffhanger was less dramatic which I appreciated. I don't think I'll continue with these books, but I'll definitely check out the Geek & Sundry webisodes when they start airing. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Twilight. This is embarassing. I havn't heard of this series before and I didn't have a mood for vampires for quite so long. Morganville was unexpected. Fast story. There weren't very narrative in which I think it's good. Some books just contained unwanted narratives. Thus, when Eve thrown that it's a vampire ville -- i was like, wtf. I've never met a book in which they lamely admit that vampire involved :P though it helped me get Claire's feeling. At first, I thought it's lame, but after I've read more and more through out, i thought it's cool. I get to know more about Morganville topia, and the story could convince me that it isn't just a lame vampire mojo town. I found that I love Michael, Shane, and Eve's protectiveness. They treated Claire like a little sister. I think it's cute. And Claire,... She isn't a loser nerd girl. She's a badass and I like her! :D i like the way her character developed throughout the book. What i love the most is the their relationship. It's so damn funny.

What do You think about Wampiry Z Morganville Ksiega 1: Przeklęty Dom, Bal Umarłych Dziewczyn (2010)?

How much do admire Rachel Caine as a writer? Her ear for dialogue is perfect and she manages (somehow) to describe beautifully without being flowery or overly poetic. This is an amazingly good YA novel - wonderful grasp on relationships, first relationship, conflict with popular clique, the importance of friends, finding your own place in the world... all of that plus, oh yeah, vampires. Fantastic stuff. And get this edition. You don't want to read the first book without being able to LITERALLY TURN THE PAGE to read the second one.

The first book was kind of boring in my opinion I couldn't quite get into it, I'm not sure why. I did force myself to read the second one and see if the series got any better and it did! I loved how the entire second book was action packed (hell of a lot more than the first one), I also enjoyed reading all the Shane/Claire scenes because they are just so stinken cute! Although I found myself hating Oliver even more in this book as well as Shane's dad -_-
