UNDER GRAND HOTEL アンダーグランドホテル (2003) - Plot & Excerpts

This is a really interesting manga. All i can say is 'Damn it, it's so sexy!' This is one of the few books/ manga i would reread and reread without getting tired of it. I was hooked on to this manga from the very beginning, from the moment i flipped the page. Every chapter is so exciting and half the time you don not know what to expect and what's going to happen next. It made me cry a few times or feel somewhat emotional as i read it which i do not do quite often at all unless the book/ manga is really good. Has a lot of ehhh disturbing things but i still liked it. The drawings by this artist is just effin' hot and explicit. I would give four stars just for the drawing. But no seriously, there is a plot too. That is what makes 'Under Grand Hotel' one of my favourite mangas. I love the two main characters, Sen and Sword. Sen is a very strong guy, who despite every bad experience he went through, moved forward with his life. I liked that he stood up to Sword from the very beginning. Sword on the other hand, is a complex man who fell in lust and then love with Sen, and then was determined to make the guy his in every way possible. I am not saying that I agreed with some of his methods but Sword is a character I couldn't seem to hate. Probably because I could tell he loved Sen in spite it all. I even closed one eye to his infidelity (which is actually one of my main peeves) if we can call it that, because when Sword did it, you knew it was because of how screwed-up he really was and not because he loved Sen any less.

What do You think about UNDER GRAND HOTEL アンダーグランドホテル (2003)?

Okay I will start of with I love Mika Sadahiro. This book had me from the start, I don't really do prison stories. But Sen was so intriguing. his reason for being there, and his attitude about it. I ranked him like a modern day samurai. Then there was Swordfish. I really loved hating him. he was like the very epitome of a hood rat that made it big...In prison. The situations the MCs found themselves were a lot different than I expect and that was a plus. I have yet to read a Mika Sadahiro story that I didn't like and this is no exception.

I revised my review to 5 stars because I just can't forget this series. It is intense, grim, raw and all of those descriptive words for love and ...honor...in a prison setting. There are no safe words here. There is no sweetness and light. But it is a gripping series, and draws the reader into the "OMG what happens next" even when sometimes the reader doesn't want to really deal with the "what happens next."I won't say a word about the outcome except - well worth the read.
