Unbeloved (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

Another great part in this series. I found this a lot less graphic / violent although a part of me worries that this is just because I've become immune to it all. This is one crazy messed up world but the characters have kicked their way into my affections and there's no turning back now. I really loved Hawk and D's story. I found it all very bittersweet and that last 10% had me in serious tears. Jase was a regrettable side story. I wanted better for him but I guess there was only two spots available in that relationship. It was nice to see him man up in the end and return to his family. The epilogue has me wondering how the hell ZZ gets out of his mess and back with the brothers. I look forward to reading his book. Really great series and very three dimensional characters. Totally immersed in this world. Not a fan. The way the story was told just fell flat. There was so much missing.I just couldnt connect with Dorothy or Hawk for some reason. Dorothy just seemed selfish like Jase to me. After she was shot, she felt bad about how her actions affected her - not Hawk, not Chrissy, and not Jase's 3 kids. She didnt seem remorseful for the part she played in changing their lives in a negative way. But she was sorry that it caused her to almost loose her son. I just couldnt connect with her inability to understand the role she played in destroying a family. Also I would have like to see more of the early years of their relationship - when Jase was wh*ring around with multiple women and her feelings on that. She went into this with full knowledge - he was married with 3 kids. Also her starting up with Hawk and putting him though the same pain she was feeling- loving someone who wouldn't chose you was again incredibly selfish. Like he "blackmailed" you. So what!!! Let him tell Jase. Hawk - where to start. I dont like how he started with Dorothy. It just never seemed genuine to me. It seemed like it was more physical with him than anything. And then it became about being upset that she didnt choose him. Yea in the end - they "chose" each other and he was in jail but they "were still together" and then married. It just didnt seem like she would have chose him for herself if the situations had been different. It just seemed like it was more about taking her away from Jase than wanting / keeping her from himself. Like that kiss at his going away party - it was done right after he saw Jase. Madeline describes him when he sees Jase as being angry.Jase - selfish a**hole. That's all.(I am glad he seems to be on the right track with his kids and getting his life back together though) Other things of note:I would have loved to see Dorothy have a conversation with Chrissy, just so they could clear the air after everything settled.I would have liked to see more of the backstory told. Like how she fell in love with him. How she felt after a few years, after 5 years, after 8, after 12, after 15. Also how her marriage fell apart. I would have liked to see the interaction with her husband. More of Hawk and Dorothy's early interaction. I dont understand why NO ONE TOLD CHRISSY anything. I mean she was his wife - she was around all the girls - she had yoga sessions with some of them, she was always at the family events. Why no one thought that at the very least she deserved to know was beyond me. It just seemed like when it was their own relationships - ie. Deuce cheating on Eva everyone couldnt wait to tell her (well not in so many words but they made her aware of what was going on) because they loved her but no one thought to tell Chrissy anything for 17 years. No excuse. Instead they treated her like she was Jase' wife - paying for her apartment, paying for Teagan's apartment when she left. It just seemed like she was valued much more than Chrissy was.I would have loved to see more of Chrissy - how betrayed she felt by not only Jase but by all these people she thought were her friends. How she is coping in prison, what she is planning to do when she gets out. How the trial went, did anyone reach out to her to explain why they chose to stay silent, that sort of thing. I would hope to see more of Chrissy pulling her life together after prison, reintegrating in her daughter's lives and to read her thoughts on why she stayed with him when she knew he wasnt happy. One of the other things that ticked me off was right at the end - something about how Hawk was a lifer and would never leave the club and Jase did. WTF does that have to do with anything - Jase had 3 girls and a wife - all of whom hate the club because of the effect it had on their family and they also hate the members because they chose Dorothy over them. The club betrayed them if anything. He wanted his kids back - there was no other choice for him. That had nothing to do with the story. All in all, I think there is much that wasnt touched upon. Just too much story/ plot missing for me.1.5/5 stars for me
