True To The Highlander (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I don't think I can sing high enough praises about Barbara Longley's "True to the Highlander". I absolutely adored this book and could not put it down. I even skipped work today to finish it. The humor, the romance, the setting, the sprinkling of paranormal and fantasy--gaw. This was exactly what I wanted to read at this moment. I simply could not get enough of 'alpha-jerk' and 'True'. I LOVED the time-travel aspect and that it took place with kilted Scottish warriors. I LOVED True's sass. And I LOVED how the characters interacted. I was totally immersed in the pages of this book and was transported along with Alethia to a world that kept me thoroughly entertained. Bravo, Ms. Longley. Bravo. I am a new fan and can't wait to get my grubby little paws on the next book in this series. I really wanted to like this book. I honestly did. It felt, at the beginning, like a lighter version of Outlander with a vivacious leading lady and a strong laird. However, it didn't come close to my expectations.Alethia is a Mary Sue. Half Native American, half Scottish, she is a violin player, can skin and trap her own game, is an accomplished healer and is so big hearted that it makes you want to smack her. The flaws that she was given in the book are not enough to make her seem likable as a character you can relate to.Malcolm is the typical Highlander Scottish laird you read about in all of these books. He is domineering and stubborn. He also takes away every choice that Alethia has and is kind of a jerk. Ok, not kind of. He is a jerk and he was way too brash.I feel like I would have liked this a lot more if Alethia did a little more than sit in the corner and worry. Yes, she has a role in the plot but it doesn't seem significant enough to warrant a whole book being written about it.

What do You think about True To The Highlander (2014)?

Not bad. It was longer than I think it needed to be, but other than that, just OK.

Is a good book to read forever and ever since the heart of a great book to read

Sweet story but predictable. Found myself skimming over it a lot.
