The Tailor (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

An scene of Shadow and Bone from Genya's perspective. I have to say I kind of dislike her, but after reading this short story I see why she is the way she is. She is " a pretty thing and a soldier all the same."I feel sympathy towards her. The Darkling seems the only one who understand everything she goes through, and helps her (okay, maybe he is using her). "You are a soldier. You could be my greatest soldier. And if you stay,if you can endure this, one day all will know it."I really enjoyed it, learning more about Genya. And obviously more Darkling. 4 Stars I think Leigh Bardugo is a better short story writer than a novelist. Her other Ravka short stories are much better than this one, and than her Grisha novels, at least to my liking. This one is the only one of the short stories that's actually linked to the plot of one of the novels, the first one in this case. We get to see a part of the story from Genya the Tailor Grisha's point of view, which is interesting because in the novel Alina Starkov isn't too sure how much of Genya is honest and how much is a pose, and since the novel is told from her point of view, neither are we.This short story gives a bit more substance to Genya, and through her eyes, to Alina herself, plus we get to find out what actually happened to Alina's many letters that Malyen says he never got.

What do You think about The Tailor (2013)?

Hard to rate a scene. But this makes me dislike Genya. Maybe she can be redeemed later.
