The Lost City Of Faar (2003) - Plot & Excerpts

This book review is about someone is writing about someone`s book that he or she have already read,so I`ll tell you about my book review that I have already read about my favorite book or the series so here it is. The book is called Pendragon Book Two:The lost city of Faar, I have already read the first book of series, which is called The Merchant of Death. It`s about a fourteen-year old boy named Bobby Pendragon who went with Uncle Press to help some people in Denduron and Saint Dane can shape shift to anything, who is evil and almost killed Bobby and Press. But that night his friend Mark got visited by a strange woman that she gave Mark a ring and the four journals and she said that it was from Bobby. So when he started reading it, he`s reading about Bobby`s adventure and what`s going on.The next day,he told courtney aboutit,so they`ll keep on reading more Journals that Bobby sent by the teleportation of the ring that Mark`s wearing. At the end of the first book, when Bobby returned home, his house isn`t there anymore, not his family either.Uncle Press told him to move on because Bobby is a Traveler, also his uncle, and Loor,Osa`s daughter which in case she died while she`s trying to protect Bobby in Denduron.Bobby will keep writing every four journals in each book of series that I`m reading to his friends,Mark and Courtney on what`s going on to him and anything. They waited weeks or months that Mark and Courtney need the journals from him so they started reading the fifth journal that Bobby just sent.So the second book that I`m reading is that Bobby, and Uncle Press went to Cloral to find Saint Dane, the evil guy that he`s trying to destroy Bobby back in the first book. While they were there,Bobby met Spader in Cloral,Uncle Press`s friend that they`ve been in a long time.Spader learned that he`s a Traveler after his father`s death. On second earth, Mark was tired of Andy bullying him and telling him to bring the Journals because he found out during school night and lying to Courtney. At the end, when Bobby saw his uncle`s death while trying to save Spader from Saint Dane which in case went to Veelox and they went there, that is my at least favorite part of the book when Uncle Press died.My recommendation for this book is to read it because it`s full of adventure, fantasy, action, snappy dialogue and cool. This book is full of journals that Bobby wrote for his friends and he shares this for us to read from him.So my opinion for this book is awsome because I`m reading the series of Pendragon. This book review is for teenagers to read that wants to read this series or have already read this, but for those who didn`t read it then I recommend you read this book of series that I`m reading.

Hayes Iler 3-15-15Ms. Miron P.6 Book review The Lost City Of Faar After reading the novel, The Lost City of Faar by D.J. MacHale I personally think it depends on the kind of reader you are and what your interests are about books for you to read this. First off I believe that this book would be the perfect book for any reader who around late middle school early high school years. Why? Because many kids around that age have crazy imaginations and this book has a great fiction plot. I agree with Annies review on Goodreads.com because she mentioned how “It's full of adventure & very detailed... But I just wasn't excited to read it like I was in the first book.” I too think that although it was suspenseful and had a decent plot it made me bored throughout the story. I didn't like this fiction novel because of a few characters and their outcome, along with some of the settings that the novel is in. Characters including Uncle Press and even Bobby had some scenes where I was just lost! It would often feel like its shifting scenes really fast and yet almost confusing. I also think that the story could have been a lot better if the author D.J. MacHale kept Uncle Press in the story. He was a very unique character who for me made the story better. The setting of the novel takes place in the land of cloral, a city that is covered in water. Weird right?! I feel like if the author kept the setting to a more realistic point, it would be a much better novel. My favorite character throughout this novel would have to be either Bobby himself or Uncle press. These were my favorite characters because for me they were the characters that made me want to keep reading and turn the page to see what the new mission or scene will be like. I also liked these characters because of their attitudes. They were always pushing forward and trying to defeat whatever enemy awaited them. “What did you find?” I asked. I couldn't believe that some hint of his past life had actually been left behind. Spader had the treasure in his hand. “For spader. I love you and I'm proud of you! Hobey-Ho!” I could only guess that that was his mom's handwriting.” ( MacHale 212) This was my favorite quote because it was one of the first times in the novel where I actually had a smile.

What do You think about The Lost City Of Faar (2003)?

A very strong sequel to the first book. This time round Bobby Pendragon is transported to a world where there is only water and his mission is to go on a quest and find the lost city of faar. Loor, one of the characters I like makes an appearance in the book. I was surprised when I read the first few pages and she was sent on another quest but she came back again towards the end of the book which was great.Bobby meets a new character called Spader who is very cool and who goes through an interesting journey in the story. Bobby again is just as funny as he was in the first book but he goes through some major changes which helps him to become a strong character without having to depend on his uncle. Another part of the story which I always enjoy reading is when Courtney and Mark read Bobby's journals from second Earth. Even though they are not with Bobby they go on their own little journeys and coping with everyday teenage life. The whole series is becoming a little more clearer to me about why Bobby has become a traveller.I cant wait to read the next book. Hobey.

I actually have mixed feelings about this book. It's full of adventure & very detailed... But I just wasn't excited to read it like I was in the first book.Don't get me wrong, I'm going to continue to read the series but I don't think I'll be reaching for the 3rd book anytime soon*SPOILER ALERT*I was very upset that Uncle Press had to die. He is the character that I felt held the story together. I'm not sure how the author is going to go on without this character, i know I am going to have a

Pendragon on his second adventure is still an oddity. He has been trained from early childhood to be a Traveler, hopping between worlds via a gate similar to the Stargate familiar to television viewers. Now, he has reached the ripe old age of 14, and is being thrust into the role without being fully ready. In the first adventure, he was about 14 and a half, and this adventure picks up shortly after. He is traveling to a water world this time, and finds it to be nearly a paradise. The descriptions sounded like what I have always imagined the reefs in Hawaii or Australia would be like, teeming with fish and with high visibility in the water. Unfortunately, there is a crises fast approaching, which necessitates the need for the Travelers to help. In this case, there are multiple Travelers – Bobby Pendragon, his Uncle Press, and their friend Spador (which I constantly keep reading as Spider). The Arch Nemesis of Travelers, Saint Dane, is after this world of Cloral, but at first the Travelers have no clue why. However, as the story unravels it becomes clear, and it is up to Bobby, Press, and Spador to stop Saint Dane and his minions (every evil villain needs minions, right?). Unfortunately Saint Dane is more of a minor character, a write-in if you will, than a part of the central plot.Throughout the story (both the first book and this one) the main issue I have is that Bobby is only 14 – yet sometimes he talks and thinks as if he is much older. At one point, he has to give a speech, off the cuff, with virtually no warning, yet gives a presentation which would make a professional speaker proud. Based on the lack of true character development, the speech, although heartfelt, is not believable based on previous actions. More character development is needed. All we really know about Bobby is that he played basketball, was interested in having Courtney as his girlfriend, and has done a lot of traveling. We know he misses his family but that is thrown in almost like an afterthought. This story could have been great if it had been more based in reality… and the final cliffhanger with the journals was well written but not logical with the actions Courtney and Mark (the recipients of Bobby's notes) had taken in the past. Still it’s a good story with a grand thesis. I still don't think at 14 his writing and speaking skills would be that advanced, unless Uncle Press also worked on honing those talents over the years. I will probably pick up the next book just to see where it goes. ***note to self - do not get these in CD - the whining of Bobby Pendragon is unbearable in that format and probably adversely affected my entire reaction to the series end note***
