The Judgment (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

The Judgment really had me on the edge of my chair. Having read the Thorn already, I sort of expected some things to happen to Rose and Hen, but no!! This book really through me for a loop and I have to say I was really worried about the girls throughout this book. There were a lot of twists and turns that I just didn't expect. But I'm finding this book even harder to put down now. I just can't wait to see what happens to these sisters next!! Rose Kauffman is finally engaged to Silas Good, but she pines for Nick Franco, the foster son of their neighbor bishop. Nick disappears after the death of his brother - of which he is a suspect, but Rose cannot keep him out of her mind and heart. Engaged to Silas, but loving Nick, can she marry a man she doesn't love? Or will she forever love a man she cannot have?Hen has returned to her parent's farm to live in their Dawdi Haus with her daughter Mattie. Separated from her husband, Brandon, by mutual agreement; Hen tries to re-establish herself among the People she betrayed. Hoping to maintain her Plain roots and keep her marriage, will she ever be able to accomplish both? Or do Plain and fancy have no middle ground? The second book in the Rose Trilogy, this was a wonderful continuation of the intriguing story of a Amish family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I don't know how Lewis does it, but she always writes a book that captures your interest and doesn't let go till the end of the novel. I recommend this series to anyone who loves a good novel by this great author.

What do You think about The Judgment (2011)?

Second in this trilogy, The Judgment was a better book than The Thorn to me. I suppose I enjoyed it much more as the characters went into more depth, the story continued and took twists which I did not see coming. I highly recommend reading this book if you read The Thorn, don't stop there! I very much enjoyed this and read it much faster than The Thorn. I'm looking forward to beginning the third book now, "The Mercy" which I have here reading to read! Good, Christian reading for all ages. THX to my mother for giving these great books to me as gifts.

This series continues to be pleasant with most of the things happening as you want them to. In this book, the remaining bad guy is smote by the god to suffer in blindness, while a psychic girl inspires and amazes... but don't worry, the author regularly makes sure you know that the bible backs up her visions as ok and not some hell-sent-witchery. Vampire guy finds a tastier girl, and Mr. Werewolf is MIA, but I'm pretty sure things will all wrap up nicely in the next book.
