The Boys, Tome 2: Prends ça (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

As I'd hoped, there's a better balance to things in the second installment of The Boys and I found myself enjoying it more as a result. It still pushes boundaries seemingly for the sake of it, which would seem to be the creator's intent, but this time around does a much better job of contextualising the gratuitousness to serve the story. Looking forward to getting my hands on the next installment. This may yet turn out to be a series I really enjoy. Does Garth have a problem with people who are gay? I really wondered this while reading one of the stories in this Volume. I just got a vibe he does but sprinkled it like he doesn't. Really it's not my concern if he does or doesn't but the storyline kind of irked me.I understand fully well that all the characters are rather crude but there is a point when flipping through the trade and on every second page and the 'c'* word crops up gets a little bit stupid. All the swearing that went on to just became numbing. I don't mind swearing but within reasons and again like the use of 'c' it became stupid. These points aside I got a laugh out of 'Love Sausage' guy and the booze he serves them in the story where they head off to Russia. The other story made my face screw up a few times but that's pretty normal once you find out why.*No, the word isn't crap..lol. It's not that hard to figure it out.

What do You think about The Boys, Tome 2: Prends ça (2000)?

As I feared, not a lot of character development in the ongoing saga of The Boys. Two story arcs here. The first concerning a dead homosexual, a priapic hero in a mechanical suit, and horny devil of a former side kick. The second concerning the possible overthrow of Russia as schemed up by a giant vibrator using sociopathic short woman. Sorry but not all the tittering "oooo boobies" and "oooo violence" scenes can help this collection with anyone over the age of 16.

Sadly, I was not as enamored with this one as the first. The first story included here was a little weird - okay, very weird. The second was slightly confusing - there was a lot going on - but I liked the second one better, if only for the Glorious Five Year Plan! I may try the future books, on accounts that I like Wee Hughie, and I want to see where his romance goes (since there was zero mention of that in this collection.)
