The Accidental Bride (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

1/08 - I seem to have hit a rash of romances that aren't particularly (or even at all) romantic. Different authors, same great sounding plot, same disappointment when the book doesn't live up to its potential. I liked the premise - over-stressed top chef is sent to a knitting camp (I was a little dubious about that, but obviously knitting is something that connects the four women the quadrilogy centres around) and meets a man on her arrival. When Jilly's suitcase falls open, spilling some of the more embarrassing contents onto the footpath outside the Jackson Hole airport and Walker picks up the most embarrassing item - a lacy piece of lingerie - I had high hopes for the sexual tension between Jilly and Walker, but after that scene nothing eventuated. I was quite disappointed. The part I enjoyed most would have to be Winslow the dog. He was so intelligent and so loyal, it made me kind of wish that my dogs were as well trained as Winslow. As there's very little likelihood that dogs will feature in any of the other books in the series I don't know if I'll bother reading them. Argh. Not much ruins a book for me faster than incorrect facts. If you're going to write about something you don't know, get a beta reader in that field to check your facts!! 1. There's no such thing as an atrial valve. There's 2 atria in the heart, and there's the mitral and tricuspid valves that lead from the atria to each of their respective ventricles (pg 25)2. A bad heart valve does not show up as a shadow in an X-ray (pg 26)3. You cannot tell someone's blood pressure by feeling their wrist to check their heart rate (pg 62)
