Tempest In The Tea Leaves (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Tempest in the Tea Leaves was such a fun read! I adore the main character Sunny! She is such a fun little ball of energy and an adventurous gal!Sunny is ready to break free from her parents and life in the big city and buys a Victorian home that is rumored to be haunted. Perhaps it is, maybe even by a scary little cat! That is one mystery I can't wait to see unfold in future books. Sunny proceeds to start her new business as a professional psychic, only one problem, her first client winds up dead! Of course Sunny is a prime suspect and must clear her name! Hilarity ensues, Sunny is such a fresh character and trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes. Friendships form along the way and Sunny finds herself growing as a person and finally finding a place to fit in all while solving a murder. I am definitely going to read the next book, can't wait to see what happens next! Sunny Meadows is a poor little rich girl...at the age of 29, she still dresses like a wannabe hippie teenager in order to stick it to her parents who are incredibly dreadful simply for being wealthy. While she dislikes their wealth, she has no trouble with using her trust fund to buy herself a house and a business. Sunny is exasperately immature throughout the book..who wouldn't want to shoot a woman age 30 who refers to a detective as Detective Grumpy pants to his face? I didn't find this book believable at all...not because Sunny was so immature (plenty of ditzy little girls are) but because even though she is the main murder suspect, the police chief assigns her to be the detective's partner and investigate the crime she is accused of! C'mon, really? Also, her immaturity was so grating, I can't honestly see the detective being attracted to her. He'd feel like a child molester. I have the next one (got these in a book swap) but I don't honestly think I'll be buying #3 unless Sunny grows up a bit.
