Sweet Treats (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

typical stormy glenn romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical stormy glenn? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.). laziness dictates i will use this as my template for all books by the following authors unless a book is remarkably good/bad :stormy glennlynn hagenscarlet hyacinthjoyee flynncarol lynnegabrielle evans Sweet Treats is the second book I have read by Stormy Glenn. This had been on the bottom of my TBR files for a while. Since it was a relatively short story, about 64 pages or so, and I was in the mood for something short and sweet, I thought I would give it a try.Stormy has a very simple style of writing. It reminds me of Carol Lynne’s style in a way. Her story was short and to the point. There isn’t a lot of angst, and the heroes pretty much immediately fall in love with one another without many complications or conflicts. There were some things that didn’t add up for me with this book, but not enough to take away from the overall enjoyment of it. I would call Sweet Treats a guilty pleasure with its quick and easy storyline, sultry sex scenes, pretty interesting heroes and very sweet ending. I liked it.Brandon is the owner of a bakery. He is a very sweet man with a good sense of humor, who hasn’t had good luck in the relationship department for quite some time. He isn’t your average hero. He is short and cute. He is described as having a “bubble butt” and because of having to taste test his baked goods, he is a little thick around the middle. I have to admit I LIKED this about Brandon. Sometimes it’s nice to read about a cute guy that isn’t perfect in everyway. You know? Brandon is not known to be graceful. So when he stumbles and falls on his bubble butt while at the Jazz Festival, he is able to laugh at his own klutziness. What he doesn’t expect is to have one of the most handsome men he has ever laid eyes on to come to his rescue. Nick is immediately smitten with the Brandon. He loves that Brandon has can laugh at himself, eats more than a crouton at dinner and is also one of the nicest and sexiest men he has ever met. Nick hasn’t had good luck with men. Being a doctor, he has had difficulty keeping a relationship. They don’t understand his unpredictable schedule, and usually don’t stick around because of it. When he meets Brandon, he can’t help but hope that Brandon will be different than the others because there is something about Brandon that speaks to his heart. There is a small conflict between Nick, Brandon and a Doctor that Nick works with. There is some slight misunderstanding between Nick and Brandon, but basically that’s it. It’s really just a sweet story of two people finding one another and connecting on an emotional and physical level. Sweet Treats is perfect for that rainy day reading when you don’t want too many complications. Note: Sweet Treats is the first book in a series. The next book is Mr. Wonderful. I don’t know how they will be related yet, but I’ll let you know when I read Mr. Wonderful. Since the secondary characters are interesting, it would be nice to read their story, too. 3.5 stars but I will bump it up to 4
