Storming The Castle With Bonus Content (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

In Storming the Castle you meet a secondary character whose story was told in Kiss at Midnight. I have always loved fairy tales and am enjoying Eloisa James' versions of old favorites. Wick was the "butler" whose was born on the wrong side of the blanket. As brother to the prince he sacrificed so much of himself to serve the household. Wick - educated, handsome, but a bastard can't marry a lady but deserves one. Phillipa has been expected to marry Rodney a future baronet and decides to have sex with him before. She is repulsed by his body and his lack of skill and has few options. When she hears the new baby at the castle is wasting away she goes to help with colic. A cute romance begins. There were a few elements of the story line that I don't know were fully developed. Perhaps I missed them, falling asleep with my kindle. But Phillipa's uncle - a doctor influenced her love of medicine and healing yet we never meet this character. But it is a short novella and that is often the problem with this genre. If you ever wanted a prince on a white horse then Storming the Castle is the book for you. The prequel is included. I didn't reread it but recommend reading that one first. Maybe my Pride & Predjudice craving has worn off. Historical romance is not at the top of my favorite genre list, but after watching some P&P lately I had the urge and light and quick reads authored by Eloisa James fit the bill.Alas, the best word I can use to sum this one up is trite. Historical romance is not known to be the deepest of genres, and the novella length did not help matters. It is a shame, as the characters were likeable. However, the short length resulted in a story that was flat and lackluster. On the positive side, it is a quickie read that you can consume during a lunch break, making it a good snack for romance fans.

What do You think about Storming The Castle With Bonus Content (2010)?

Delightful story! I love Wick, or Jonas as he was at the end. I only wish it had been longer!

Wick was such a great minor character so it was nice to read a novella that featured him :)

I am so glad that Wick has his very own HEA. On to the next one.
