Saving The Sheikh (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

Really enjoyed the humour in this book. However, there is a MAJOR ERROR compared to earlier books. Stephan Andrade's father was Victor Andrade in Book 2 while Antonio was Maddy's father, ie Stephan's uncle but he became the father??The other MAJOR issue I have with this book is the lack of knowledge of cultures, especially names. For a typical chinese name, surname/last name always comes first, hence Zhang Yajun means Zhang is the surname and Yajun would be her given name. Her mother's name would be Zhang Xiaoli, addressed as Mrs Zhang. I have always personally found it offensive for one does not attempt to address another by their proper name. I find it offensive that an established author like Ruth didn't learn the chinese culture properly before writing this book. The other cultural aspect of chinese marriages she could have attempted to understand is the main tea ceremony of a Chinese marriage. Most Chinese marriage ceremonies can be elaborate depending on wealth but the tea ceremony is never skipped and it is the most important aspect of a marriage, more so than a signed certificate.I like her previous books and the story theme in this book. However, as a Chinese, I was rather annoyed by the lack of cultural truth. I do not understand enough of the Middle East Arabic culture to comment. For all these above reasons, I have only rated this book 3 stars, not 4. 4h book in this series. K I don't wanna go indepth with this review but I will start off saying this is my fav of the series. It all stated with a dare toss in some crazy days an assasination attempt then possible a happy ever after. I wish I could have read this in one sitting but life got in the way but none the less I really did enjoy the book.Zhang is a rich powerful buisness woman in China. She struggled her way to the top but along the way she had to choose between marriage and her career; obviously she choice her buisness career but its getting lonely at the top. Lil tells Zhang that at american weddings women let loose and have a little fun, so she dares Zhang to kiss her groomsman Rachid the Sheikh. So a kiss and a fantasy later we have a forced marriage. He must win her acceptance of the wedding within a week. Crazy fun watching these two. Zhang wants love and doesn't think Rachid can love her, after all an amazing night between them can't lead to love if he feels he is forced into marriage for political reasons. That fun drama of getting her to agree was fun. Loved her atitude she made me laugh so much. Rachid was sweet, sexy, and could rock Zhangs world between the sheets.Sweet budding romance mixed with some family drama along with politcal aspects due to his position. Fantasys sometimes do become real but you may have to work at it a bit.

What do You think about Saving The Sheikh (2000)?

Un dénouement un peu trop rapide mais c était marrant de découvrir Zhang sous un autre jour
