Rosebush (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

At first I thought Rosebush was... Well, just okay because the intro did suck me into it, but however until after the Prologue it really dragged and you read just useless information. I ended up reading it over again because what if it did? It didn't. But after the first five or so chapters were done it was very interesting I just could not put it down. That is when the mystery really starts to be put into place and when you start guessing who hit her into the rosebush. At first I thought it was crystal clear of whom hit her but then Jaffe is good at making you thinking twice, even three times. She was really clean, clear and had a reasonable way of tying up the loose ends and the overall story which every author should be able to do. It was a very good twist at the end and so over all it's a good book. This book was probably one of the most interesting books I've ever read. I felt like I was watching a movie because I could imagine what was happening so clearly. The book is basically about a girl who is finally beginning to become popular and is happy with her life but then as always it goes completely downhill. After almost being killed by a car she is in the hospital with her mother and her step-father who she calls Marc. Her friends come to visit her once in a while as does her boyfriend. The thing is she can’t remember anything that happened the night that someone tried to kill her. The whole book is very interesting because there is event after event and at times she even has troubles with herself deciding what is real and what is not. The author did a very good job of faking who the killer was throughout the book and making you think one thing but then finding out another. One thing I'd have to say though is I wish the killer was someone even more unexpected because although you don’t think of it at the beginning, you start to realize to figure it out farther away from the end then I'd have liked it. The reason I give this four stars is because I never wanted to stop reading it. It was always interesting from the very beginning and new events would happen all the time. The reason I didn't give this five stars was because it was a bit ordinary for me. Although it was a good book there are also a lot of other books out there just like it. Nothing was special to me about it. But I didn't give it three stars because although it was very original, there were twists and little things that did make it stand out just a little.
