Pulling Home (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I really like this author as just recently read her first two books in the Family Affair (Truth in Lies Series)—highly recommend, and Pushing Home (Second Chance Book #1) which can be a standalone, was included as a preview in the e-book. I listened to the audio version and the narrator did an outstanding job. The story had a number of twists, secrets, and turns from tragedy to hot sex. A story of misunderstandings, redemption, second chances and love with lots of secrets and shockers near the end which helps explain the events throughout the novel. Audra, a head writer for a famous soap opera, returns home (to a town where everyone hates due to her family history), after her husband Christian dies with her eight year old daughter. Her daughter has a very serious illness and she has to put aside her feelings for Jack (the surgeon) - -Christian’s brother with who she had an affair with years ago. She also sets on a journey to find her father for the family medical history which is needed for her daughter. A heartfelt story of family secrets and drama and look forward to reading more from this author! This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it so much that I was up until 11p lastnight reading most of it and finishing it today(at my desk at work-SHH!). All the turmoil that went on between the characters was driving me crazy, but in a good way. It made for an interesting read about a woman who was completely misunderstood and alone, and a man who couldn't let go of the past no matter how hard he tried. Typical tale about two people who should never have met but somehow did, and how their lives were forever changed. This book had a spectrum of secrets in it where most of the townsfolk would be shocked if they knew even half the secrets that some of the least likely people held onto, but most importantly, it had romance. Even though that romance was fought against by the people feeling it, it was still there, and irritating and sweet and fulfilling once everything that was supposed to happen was finally allowed to happen. Good read, I purchased this book because I was about to start the 2nd book in this "stand alone" series, but I still wanted to start at the beginning stand alone or not. Again, I really enjoyed the book, some characters made me angry, some got on my nerves, but I like how the story played out in the end, even though the last bit felt a little rushed like "hurry up and wrap it up", but it was still good. I'm moving on to the next right now!!!!
