Prince Voronov's Virgin (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

This the the story of Prince Alexei Voronvo who's mission in life is to get back everything that had belonged in his family and he is not above using Paige Barnes to get what he needs. They meet when the Prince rescues her from 3 men that are chasing her. He has her pretend they are lovers making love in the dark against a building, to avoid detection from the men. What Paige feels from that make out session sends her up in flames. She has never felt that kind of passion. She has been so busy working and raising her sister after their mothers death, that there has not been anytime for herself. When he gets her back to his townhouse and finds out who she is, he thinks she is there to spy on him to find information that would make him lose his last deal. He returns her the next morning to her hotel, but after a meeting he later follows her into the hotel restaurant and talks her into going with him to dinner elsewhere. She goes but only when he promises her that her boss will not run into them. His plan all along is to use her for info. " I have got to say I hate personally when people are used but hang in there with this novel" where he takes her is his palace in St. Petersburg. They enjoy a wonderful meal and she talks him into talking about his family which he never talks about with anyone. From there they enjoy what would be called a sleigh ride here in the states. He kisses her and passion ignites. She is ready to start living for herself and agrees she wants him. They return to the palace were he finds out she is a Virgin "there is a slight story there also" she is already falling for him. They both fall asleep but are awoken by his phone ringing. As he is flying her back to her Hotel he finds out he has won and tells her and this is where she figures out she was being used. Even though she never betrayed her boss she tells him she will never work for him when she gets back home to Texas. He leaves her at the hotel. The story picks up a month later when she as promised had quit her job and with the help of a friend has found a new one at a law firm. But all is not well. Paige has been really tired of late and now feels sick. After her friend talks to her she realizes that she might be pregnant. This might sound lame to some, but she truly was nursing hurt feelings and lost in her own heartache so I found it very believable. Well who should show up on her door but the Prince himself. Once he finds out she is pregnant he whisks her off to Russia and marries her, but there he leaves her in the palace. On her own with staff and coaches to teach her Russian etc. she is very lonely. I need to stop here. Trust me when I say there is way more to this book than meets the eye. I realize that I might not have written the best review but trust me when I say. There are reasons why he stayed away from her, which when are answered make a lot of sense. I did hate that he was going to use her in the beginning but then again there are reasons. I personally don't like people using others but when you find out why again it makes sense. Lynn Raye Harris when she writes a novel has a way of making you feel like you are there in the setting or that you can feel the character feelings. That takes great talent. I felt like I learned things about Russia I did not know before aka food and yes I had heard about the winters there and the nights being lighter but she explained it so well that I felt like I was the one looking out the Palace windows and seeing the skies. Well done. A very pleasant HP. Not a melodramatic angst fest. There was just enough conflict to keep it interesting. I liked the Russian setting. I felt that it was used well. The hero wasn't really an ass just mixed up emotionally. The heroine was sweet. Well written and the plot hung together pretty well without going in depth about the whole business scenario. I would be willing to try this author again.
