Pale Demon (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

OkayI liked the action in this installment. Rachel has to be on the west coast for tribunal. Trent has to be on the west coast to retrieve an item Ellsbeth, his former fiancé had if his. Good and action packed, especially our friend JenkSpoilers:Some discordant for me: never is it explained why, legally they can't fly to California. The set up as to why they have to drive fell flat. Pierce's disinterest in Rachel later in the story is another puzzle. Not reasonable. The Ivy big announcement does not come to fruition in the end....no point to the drama, the conversation!!!! And what happened to Jax from last book?!?! Did he stay with his dad?!?!Still reading as I am getting these books from the library but as they are OK I get less and less interested. This book was definitely better than the last two in my opinion. They've finally resolved the Ivy/Rachel lesbian weirdness stuff. Please don't get me wrong; I have no issues with gay/lesbian pairings. I love Pam and Lafayette from SVM. What was pissing me off was the whole, try it you never know you might like it, crap. It got old really fast. There were some surprises, to include a death I didn't see coming, along with some predictable stuff as well. There are questions left to be answered as well. Several of mine revolve around the Demons and the "Coven" but I won't get into them so I don't leave spoilers. Still worth the price of the audible credit and I will continue with the next book in the series after I finish with Gena Showalter's latest.

I like the action, but I see Rachel becoming a weaker heroine. She has some odd guilt trip going on. I don't like that she is falling into almost a Stockholm Syndrome case when it comes to Al and Trent. It was great of Trent to "save" her and all and for Al to start treating her better, but they are both pretty bad excuses of decent beings. Female characters don't have to become weak or self-demoralizing to forgive. I hope the next books do not continue this trend. Oh, also, instead of thanking your editor, Ms. Harrison, get someone who knows how to proofread!

Good book. Rachael fights with a day-walker demon and loses her aura.
