Otherworld Nights (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Women of the Otherworld is probably my favourite urban fantasy series hands-down. It's got kickass women--in many different iterations of that word. They are self determined, smart and there are always emotional consequences to their choices and circumstances. I'll admit, there are some characters I am more fond of than others like Savannah, Adam, Karl and Jaime. I especially love Reese's backstory which we learn more intimately in Chivalrous. There is certainly another Otherworld novel(la) there lurking for my satisfaction. Vanishing Act is my other favourite from this compilation because it features two of my favourite characters who should most certainly have their own series.Overall, a great read. Is some of fanservice-y? Yes, but I'm not imagining many people who aren't fans the Otherworld series would be coming by for Clay and Elena: Parenting Fun. If Kelley Armstrong is reading, I also have no opposition to a Justice League-like supergroup where everyone has to save the world from a supernatural threat. Just a thought. So I will admit to getting a tad flustered in the beginning while reading this book. I would get so engrossed in a story and then the next chapter would come and the story would take a complete 180 turn taking on a scene from a new characters POV that initially I thought was unrelated. Thankfully things came back full circle and I was pleased with where we wound up. I've read very little Kelley Armstrong when you consider how much she has out there and I've actually read none of her Otherworld Nights series despite owning several of the books but after reading this anthology, I'm hooked! I want to know more and I cannot wait to dive into this series. I've already downloaded the reading order so I can get started.Armstrong's Otherworld Nights anthology is set in a well thought out world with extreme attention to detail. Despite the obvious fantasy she creates a believable environment that you want to step right into.
