Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I was required to read this for a book club. I was supposed to lead the discussion. I defaulted this responsibility. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is one of the worst books I can even remember reading."Hollowgasts", dude? Are you missing the part of your brain that experiences shame? The “rapper” kid portion totters between cringeworthy and opaquely racist.I was on board with “a bewildering labyrinth of interlocking cul-de-sacs” and “total ornithology boner”, but those were both in chapter 1. After that, we deal with such dazzling descriptors as “ethereal-looking woman” and “quorum of very pissed-off-looking sheep farmers.”I get it. You’re cheeky. You sound like an asshole.Speaking of, the homoerotic vibe between Jacob and Ricky, his weird green-haired redneck punk friend (yeah, that was also a ten-car pile-up. Don’t blend subcultures like that, it’s not innovative, it makes you look like you’re playing mad libs) was SIGNIFICANTLY more believable than any of the stilted, wooden adolescent wish-fulfillment you tried to pass off as a romantic arc with Firestar.Which reminds me! You wrote X-Men. With pictures. You made an X-Men comic, and you made it suck. But it wasn’t all frothy-mouthed rage on my part. When you did all that obvious thesaurus-delving, trying to make Miss Peregrine sound intelligent, my fury turned to pity. For a little while.Fuck you, Ransom Riggs. And while we’re at it, let’s check in with everybody’s favorite square-headed dickartist, John Green:“A tense, moving, and wondrously strange first novel. The photographs and text work together brilliantly to create an unforgettable story.”It wasn’t. They didn’t. It isn’t. You’re either lying or wrong. Either way, it’s not making me hate you less.WHOOP ALMOST DONE WITH MY RANT BETTER SLAP IN A SEPPIATONE PICTURE OF A FRENCH CHILD AND SOME CLUMSY EXPOSITIONimageshe could talk to the horse or something, I guess! the horse was secretly her twin sister, who got turned into a horse, and it has a snake nest in it’s colon so it can shoot snakes from it’s horse-ass! I said ass! holy FUCK am I edgy!

What do You think about Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children (2011)?

Enjoyed this time warp romp... Will never look at anonymous photos the same way.
