Mercury Falls (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

I'm not sure what I got myself into here. I don't remember how I got to this book. It wasn't in my to-read list. And halfway through I kept asking myself, what the hell am I reading?? And now I'll have to read all them, to discover just who really is in charge, who is calling the shots, and more about Michelle and Gabrielle. And Mercury. And just how Christine fits in here. So bizarre. Also, relating SPAM to the Bible was probably some of the most brilliant writing ever. It took me awhile before I was really taken into the world of Mercury. I am a big fan of alternative realities that are lose to our own that involve heaven and hell. So eventually this story took me and locked me in. Sometimes though it was somewhat too quick to move on. I wanted to know more and experience more. I guess that is kind of a good bad thing. I wanted more from the author because I wanted to know more about the world they were trying to create for me. Even though the end came quick it was a really satisfying ending. I don't know if the author is going to make this or has already made this a series but I would be interested in reading more like this.

What do You think about Mercury Falls (2009)?

Entertaining but very wordy in places. Overall I liked it though. Fun take on all the hype.

Awesomely funny book in the outrageous style of Douglas Adams but with a much sharper edge.
—ema

Just the right amount of snark for a possibly-soon-to-be-post-apocalyptic adventure.

It was so-so. Some parts were interesting and other parts were long-winded.

Boring.
