Man Stirbt Nur Zweimal (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Well i'll start by saying that it was a bit weird that every other chapter consisted of Marc's side of the events, but it was entertaining.Betsy finlly takes Antonia back to her Pack for proper burial and is forced to face their murderous stares..Betsy finds out what makes the werewolves antsy around her baby brother Jon..Laura(Spawn of the Devil) has gone insane killing vampires left and right along with devil worshippers during her sister's absence..It was an unexpected turn of events which left me with the curiosity of what happens next.. Not the strongest in the series, nevertheless, this book ties up some plot points that have been hanging unresolved for several installments now, and advances others. She also dabbles in multiple points of view, and brings in some additional peripheral characters that may be part of future novels. Some other reviews of the book note that Davidson really needs to learn to cut back on the backstory exposition and get on with the action. Once she's done going over the same ground repeatedly, there's a lot of decent action here. If this were more tightly edited, it might have been a novella instead of a novel. That's why I was able to sail through it in less than four hours.

What do You think about Man Stirbt Nur Zweimal (2010)?

Betsy Taylor has problems that only a vampire queen/suburban wife could possibly understand. Such as taking the body of her werewolf friend Antonia—who died in her service—to Cape Cod, where she’s not sure if the Wyndham werewolves will welcome her with fangs or friendship. Meanwhile, her posse back in St. Paul is sending frantic e-mails alerting Betsy to her half-sister’s increasingly erratic behavior. Looks like the devil’s daughter is coming into her own—and raising hell.

I get that Betsy is supposed to be a self-centered drama queen, but this is getting a bit extreme. I need to be able to feel at least a bit of empathy with the main character to get into a story, but she's just so incredibly self-involved. It's difficult to follow most of the story because it resolves so much around her inner selfishness rather than the events that are taking place around her. Also, the sister plot line is getting a bit too much.
