Maid For Love, The McCarthys Of Gansett Island Series, Book 1 (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I did enjoy the book a lot! Though maybe my own opinions about love at first sight not being real has kept me from loving the book. It was a cute story, I loved how he wanted to be there and help bring her back to trusting people since she was dealt such an awful hand. Though at times I felt he was a little too sensitive and how the author made him think was not how a man probably would think, though the thoughts during those times were nice, but a little annoying as well. I am glad she forgave him, because he truly did want to start a life with her. I mean at first I was a bit skeptical about that, but he was in his mid 30's and she was in her late twenties so it actually makes sense that they would want to speed up getting married and all.I can't wait to read the next book! I want to she whats happens between Joe and Janey!! One word: Insta-LoveI hate insta-love. It totally ruined this book for me. I was actually really interested in this book at the beginning. I wanted to know why Maddie hated Mac's parents. Unfortunately, the insta-love made the whole story unbelievable. But that wasn't the only problem I had with it. 1- falling in love and decided to marry after a week.2- The whole it's okay for a man to be a man-ho and sleep with all the women he wants but a women is a slut and condemned by the town for 'rumors' of her doing the same. As in the case, Maddie is pretty much a virgin since she only slept with one guy a handful of times. Wrong on so many levels. 3- Maddie. I'm sorry but she named her son after the father who lied to her and left her. WTF! She let everyone walk over her. Didn't even try to leave with the excuse of money issues. If I was treated the way she was, I would have left without even looking back. And at the end, she let Mac walk all over her because he loves her. -_-4- Mac's mom is a snobby bitch. Treating someone the way she did was wrong even if they were just rumors. If Maddie did sleep around, it shouldn't have mattered to her because Maddie should have shown herself trust worthy over the years she worked for her.I did like Mac and Thomas especially those two together. Mac was really sweet. But I didn't like Mac at the end, the way he wouldn't list to what Maddie wanted. I really don't know if I'll continue this series.
