Lord A Lady V Utajení (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Well, this book was, surprisingly, a disappointment. It started off so well - interesting plot, good pacing, and engaging characters. I was caught up in the story and really enjoying it. But after reading about 70% of the book, I found myself becoming somewhat bored with the story and had to force myself to finish it. I'm not really sure I know the reason for this change - possibly the mystery surrounding the murder had dragged on too long, possibly the love/mistrust aspect of Adrian's and Sophia's relationship was wearing thin, or possibly I was just tired of the sex scenes that seemed to occur more frequently but neither advanced the plot nor added anything new to the relationship. Plus, don't get me started on the amount of 'suspension of disbelief' required to read the escape scene near the end of the book.Although I'm disappointed by this book, I am going to read the next in the series. Hopefully the storytelling remains more consistent in the next book. Rating: A 4 star beginning, a 2 star ending = ok 3 star book. Yes, Lord and Lady Spy takes the theme (and character names) from Mr and Mrs Smith. However, Ms Galen makes the story her own. Lord Adrian (Wolf) and Lady Sophie (Saint) are spies who are focused on their own careers ignoring each other and their marriage after several major disappointments within the marriage. Neither character is perfect, but deep down inside they each want more from their relationship. They each respect and admire the other spy even though they have "never met" only heard tales of the other's successful missions. It takes them some time to adjust to the idea that they both were living secret lives. Ms Galen shows us their journey to the realization that they are stronger together and that they do love each other.I loved the book so much that I immediately started to read True Spies (and yes it is based on True Lies) :-)

What do You think about Lord A Lady V Utajení (2014)?

A bit too humorous and not so serious for my taste, but a fun read.

This was a fun book--like a Regency era Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Not historical. Not by a long shot. Amusing though.
