Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Enjoyed this one! It's the first Maggie Stiefvater book I've read, and I'll certainly look out more by this author. The romance and magic here is slower to get going than in other paranormal romances I've read, but that suits the writing style and adds to the atmosphere of the story. As a fan of folk music, I loved the use of Irish ballads, and the fact the heroine plays a harp. I also liked the hero's car called after Alexander the Great's horse - a character in itself! If I have a criticism, it's that I had to look back through the book to check who Eleanor was... somehow I couldn't fix her in my mind, and was surprised when she ended up having a bigger part at the end than I expected! I loved this. I loved her poetic sense of writing and I really enjoyed reading it, it was those good slow books you just can't help but like. The ending of the book left me begging for more. What I didn't like was the fact that the main character, Dee just effortlessly trusted Luke, he could have been a murderer. (Those who read it probably get that)Besides her too easy way of connecting with Luke, I think this is a brilliant book. I kind of wish there was more depth, everything felt too shallow.

What do You think about Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception (2008)?

This book was pretty good. A nice yet different take on faeries.
