Kitty In The Underworld (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Everything about this book seemed rather ill-conceived. We have yet another "Kidnap the MC and tell them nothing even though they probably would have been okay with helping if people had just been honest in the first place" plot to begin with, which I pretty much have no patience for anymore. Then, when Kitty escapes, she...decides not to escape after all? Because the people who kidnapped her, stuck her in a place where the walls were poison (a silver mine), and told her almost nothing might be on to something when it comes to defeating Roman? That's a recipe for starring in a horror movie, not success. There was also never really any compelling evidence presented that Kumarbis and Zora actually knew what they were talking about with regard to the ritual (which seemed pretty arbitrary in terms of deities) or why they thought it would work at all. It wasn't really a surprise, then, that it didn't work at all. I didn't have much sympathy for the members of the group who died (or Kitty in this book) because it just felt like this was the kind of thing they should have all seen coming. While I enjoy this series, this particular title felt a bit overworked, for want of a better term. Kitty is kidnapped by two were-creatures, a vampire and a sorceress to help perform a ceremony that will (hopefully) end the reign of terror of Dux Bellorum. Held against her will until the rite can be performed, she prays for rescue and ponders the fate of the universe if the rite fails. It all got a little too "internal" for my taste. I prefer a more aggressive Kitty. All that time spent in the cave made me a bit demented.

What do You think about Kitty In The Underworld (2013)?

It was ok. Not my favorite. Just get on with it already. I am over this story line!

It got surreal in the second half, but it worked.
