Keys To The Repository (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Firstly, I liked de la Cruz's addition of her own letter to constant reader. Brought some giggles out of me. Secondly, I love the brief takes into some of the characters. My favorite, by far, "Shelter Island - Dylan's Story". It made me fall in love with his character. To know how affected he was when he was alone. I was saddened after reading it to know he was gone from the series, when I barely got to know him. I really liked this book to start with. The idea that vampires come from the fallen angels was a very interesting concept to me. However, as I made my way through the series I found myself liking the characters and the storyline less and less. I liked the idea of the series, I don't think I really liked the execution. I loved the secret society and the mystery behind everyone's existence. I also liked how the author brought in stories of the angels to explain certain parts. I found the separate story lines intriguing as they came together to explain inconsistencies. I also found myself entertained by the thought of reincarnated vampires with twins who will forever be lovers.I didn't like how the love triangle started to be the center of the storyline, making the main character appear trite and whiny. I also found the longer the story continued the weirder it became. I would've probably been happy with three or four books of intensive storytelling instead of the dawdling that caused me to drop the series entirely. I lost interest after reading the 3rd book, but I loved the idea so much I forced myself to continue and hope it became better. I found myself sadly disappointed.TL;DR If you like an easy reading story, the first few books are quite good, but I doubt you'll like reading much further.
