Incomplete (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I'm not going to rate this book. If I did, I would give it 2 stars. 2 stars b/c the book had potential and I like that the herion was strong. The reason why its missing the other three stars is b/c I didn't care for the style of writing. This is a personal preference. You may ask, How is it written? It is written mainly through the thoughts of the hero. This is one of those things that drive me crazy!@# I like reading a book where the story is taking place by the characters not by the character's thoughts. The thing I did like is that it was in the Male's POV. We don't get to read much about that.I wish more reviews would tell us the style of the story. It was save me some mula and time but then again, I am prob the only one with this preference.Normally if the story is good, I would finish the book no matter the style. The reason why I didn't finish this book is b/c every review told me it had a cliffy. and knowing myself, I would buy the next book just to see what would happen even though I know I won't like the style writing. and that would be another waste of money and time for me.Do I recommend this book? Sure, just depends on your writing style Received ARC for an honest reviewIncomplete was the first book that I had ever read by Lindy Zart and I was unsure at first when I started reading but I kept going and I must admit, this book had some great moments. The story is told from our leading man, Grayson's point of view which was new for me to read about love from a mans point.Grayson is a senior in high school and is graduating that year with every intention of heading to California to fulfil his dream of becoming a performer in a band. However, this is a scary move for anyone and especially for Grayson who has some deep rooted issues where he does not believe that he is worthy of very much. His childhood has not been easy. He has had a hard time and this does affect him throughout the story. Especially when it comes to his best friend, Lily, a junior in high school. The girl who has captured Grayson's heart but he refused to do anything about it because he fears that he could lose her if the feelings are unrequited. He would rather have her a friend than not at all. That is of course, until Lily starts receiving attention from other boys at the high school and his green eyed monster comes out. Through the help of jealousy, he gets the girl and the romance starts. Grayson and Lily have an amazing connection but when Grayson refuses to leave for California, Lily does the only thing she can to ensure he never regrets his life...The overall story is about young love, growing up and discovering who you are.Grayson was great at detailing what was going on in his life and we got a great insight into his mind and his heart but at times, I really wanted to throttle him. When he got jealous, I also found him to get childish. He also had a bit of anger problem that he really needs to get in control of but some times, I was just screaming at him to please keep his mouth closed because I knew he was going to say something that was sarcastic that was really going to annoy me...he always said it anyway. But as I said, this story is about growing up and we do get to see him mature slightly throughout the story.Lily was really sweet and it was easy to see that she loved Grayson but at times, I was sure she pushed him to get a reaction out of him. However, when it came to him leaving, I really got angry with her. Not for her decisions but the way that it was said. Again, we saw Lily grow up slightly but I really wanted more maturity from both of them especially when they were having disagreements. However, the epilogue to me, was one of the best parts of the story and it did leave the story a little up there. Not a cliff hanger...maybe a hill hanger?Overall, I did enjoy this story and I do want to know what happens in book two, Complete. I am rooting for these two characters. I gave the story a 3.5 because of the way it did annoy me at times and the way that I wanted the characters to mature some more but I'm sure that I will see this happen in book two. The love between the two characters was very sweet and it has the possibility of producing an amazing book two. If you enjoy an easy read with a sweet romance book without any major drama then this book is for you.
