Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, And Kathie Lee (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I have always enjoyed Hoda in the 4th hour of the Today show and didn't realize she'd been around so long as a reporter and on Dateline. I found the details of her life very interesting and I could hear her voice in every word of it. There were many moments that made me cry. I always liked her raw look on her breast cancer experience and going back to New Orleans for Katrina. If you are a fan of Kotb or always wanted to be a reporter, I recommend this book! It was a very quick read. Told in the same breezy manner as her morning talk show, the former Alexandria, VA resident and Virginia Tech student Hoda Kotb describes her rise through the ranks of TV news to become a co-host of the fourth hour of NBC’s Today Show alongside Cathie Lee Griffin. Much of the book is dedicated to how she juggles the various components of her life: the silly antics of being a talk show host, the heart-wrenching stories of the serious journalist, and the tribulations of everyday life, focusing on such things as dating, family life, and hair trouble. A fast read that will be fun if you're a fan of her show and painful if you're not.
